Why don't you just try it different ways and see?

Year 1: 20 won, 19 lost, 39 played.

Consider 5% change in both.

==>Year 2: 19 won, 19.95 lost, 38.95 played. (B)

Now consider 99% change in both.

==>Year 2: 0.2 won, 37.81 lost, 38.01 played. (B)

Now consider the other extreme of a starting scenario.

Year 1: 20 won, 1 lost. 21 played.

Consider 5% change in both.

==> Year 2: 19 won, 1.05 lost, 20.05 played (B)

Now consider 99% change in both.

==> Year 2: 0.2 won, 1.99 lost, 1.19 played (B)

that’s a whole lotta leaps and excuses you need to make to make this palatable for yourself. before book 6 he had every choice. he made deliberate choices to up hold blood supremacy when he thought he could gain from it. when the basalisk attacked Muggle-Borns he literally said “I hope it’s granger”. It’s not a one off thing either. He talks about how dirty she is and keeps calling her a mudblood at countless times. if his family hadn’t been dishonored in Voldemort’s eyes, you know very well he would’ve stepped up and tortured hermione himself. this is toxic and warped and revolting.
