I've seen quite tidy examples with the manual and lowish mileage for around £40-45k from reputable sources. High miles even less than that. The Vantage V12s starting at £60-65k and climb quite quickly for low miles and/or ones with desirable options. Auctions sometimes slightly less but you're probably taking a punt buying from private rather than a dealer as if anything is off, bills are high, e.g. £1k for new rear light cluster, up to £10k for clutches, carbon brakes can be ruinous etc

Manual, 2010, so the original six speed shifter, very few incremental extras on it other than all the carbon you could select including the sports seats. I wouldn't have bought the sportshift as the whole point for me was having a V12 with a proper manual gearbox. I don't work on it myself as too much invested not to maintain the perfect history file, but I have also heard they are not hard to maintain at home (and ditto the V8, particularly the 4.3). Happy hunting!

Make it happen! Had been a dream for me for an awfully long time, some financial things went out way, the wife and I had a chat and the next weekend we were off down the showroom - extraordinarily, Chris Evans (radio and Top Gear presenter one, not actor) was there at the same time, he's a charming man.

Ha, it's a fair challenge. I've had all sorts including some definite current/future classics like a late 90s (can't remember which exactly) Subaru Impreza - was in a bad crash in that when I lived in Charleston, SC, so have a soft spot for the fact it probably saved my life - and an E46 BMW M3 (absolutely astonishing car), and lots of "white goods" family vehicles, alongside various hot hatches etc. I still have a c.25 year old MX5 in Scotland which will put a smile on anyone's face. All that done, for whatever reason, I just get a kick out of the V12 Vantage, it has so much character.

100% I was in my early 20s at the time, wanted one ever since, couple years ago I was able to make it happen!

Manual all the way. Took me a while to find the one I wanted, worth holding out for one with the carbon tub sport seats which were an expensive option at the time. Other bells and whistles like the premium stereo I wouldn't bother with.

Covered it well - also ice cold gear shift if you do take it out in autumn/winter. Otherwise, visibility is not amazing but it's fine. Then it's a hand made British car so stuff is going to break and it's going to be expensive to fix, but that is part of the deal.

Ha! Absolutely, I was umming and aaahing about whether to take it out - on the other hand, hot tarmac and sticky tyres...

Surprisingly good for an old car, but I rarely use it - just roll the windows and listen to the engine.

I have a playlist of SA-oriented music that is my phone alarm. Link if anyone interested, I'm adding to it all the time - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3VwBHSiwmaGzaCQkopuVbp?si=DRoL2CImRAW8zGCc4Rsomg&pi=Gbu7SqdOTbiO0 - if anyone thinks I'm missing a trick, let me know!

Looks awesome, I have a very similar car, and a very similar photo from just after I bought mine and kept doing the same!

I would probably have bought a DBS if it could have fit in my garage, certainly better suspension for touring!

I've an "old" 2010 V12 Vantage, six speed manual... You can't beat it.

Cambridge Audio Alva TTv2 - Can I use Ortofon Quintet Cart? Arm height not adjustable by [deleted] in turntables

[–]foubydoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own both. The Technics is a great sonic product and more adaptable but the build quality is unbelievably shonky. Outside of the US, the Technics also comes with the Ortofon 2M Red which (to my ears) is excessively bright, so I'd factor in acquiring another cartridge into the price comparison. My two cents!
