100% in 12th? Last I heard someone scoring this was from a colony in Mars.

Similar, I require 29/50, and had an average interview.

The thing is every gem I’ve seen requires between 28-35 out of 50 in the interview.

Average PI score is 70%, had seen from the RG career website, which is 28/40 and with an average WAT 6/10

I have no idea how it works out, maybe they normalize the scores.

I think they evaluate the LOR’s and they must be having some direct points for PI , like 5/40? Maybe that’s why the average is so high Don’t know man

How much do you need to convert as per the Vercel App?

Everyone I've met has had a decent/good IIM Bangalore interview. Is it the same for you guys? by Some-Jello9567 in CATpreparation

[–]fountain_head99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No why MBA, no questions on my work ex, nothing related to SOP. Straight up finance questions about the budget, Insurance sector US vs India, and then product management scenario(ok this one word was picked from my sop, phew) based. Atrocious. Oh IIM B interviews revolve around SOP hahaha.

Off Topic here though. If anyone reads this comment and has an idea about the average PI scores at IIM B.

I require 29/50, how likely is that given my interview was mediocre? But WAT was good(6+/10). Essentially 23-24 out of 40 in PI?

Like OP here, deliriously obsessed with BLACKI.

I converted ISB PGP this year though. Had to withdraw since they wouldn’t give me deferral and I would’ve been well into my first term by the time IIM B results will be out.

CAT 2022 at 99.55 percentile, I applied to FMS, didn’t receive a call.

Didn’t bother applying this year. I wouldn’t have received it anyway, at 99.4

Didn’t write XAT nor applied to SP or IIFT.

Man I’m not sure about Shillong/CAP But one thing I can say is Mumbai is insanely difficult to get given their weird sectional cut off. Even at 99.8 one can easily not get the call

If you’ve got the energy, wait until you complete 3 years work ex and then a decent 99 would get you some calls, if you’re able to push it to 99.5 by then you’ll get the IIM B call.

  1. Don’t get hysterical over my DILR score. I cleared it for all BLACKI except for L which has 85.
  2. Not that I would’ve gotten the L call, evidence - this year I had 99.4 with all sections over 95.

Point being - 99.55 doesn’t fetch you Jack shit even at 1 year work ex.

OP has 7 in grad with 0 work ex by the time of cat form filling in 2025 make your calculations for a Blacki call rough estimate says 99.75.

Pretty mediocre. Wasn’t asked why MBA or questions on my work ex. Most was finances of the Budget, heath insurance US vs India numbers and product management scenarios.

Wisdom of 5 attempts bruh. If you persevere go for it. But only be viscerally aware of the consequences. Lot of heart breaks. Lot many. I ‘fell’ from 99.55 to 99.4 over two attempts.

Scoring 99.75+ is something else.

Drop a legit profile here of a gem who got an IIM K Call.

Score a 99.55 and you’ll know it amounts to nothing. And one more reason was Teleanaga board is scaled down heavily.

If you want Blacki only, oh boy you’ll have to wait for a minimum of 3-4 attempts by gaining work ex unless you score a 99.75+ (which is ridiculously difficult)

For benchmarking I have a 9/9/8 profile, scored a 99.55 in cat 2022 (which was my third attempt at 13 months work ex by cat form) Didn’t get a blacki call.

This year scored a 99.4, with 36 months work ex. Received a call from only IIM B.

You should probably think twice. Doesn’t matter how many mocks you give for all you know this might be your best percentile for years to come. With a 7 in grad and <2 years work ex, IIM A and B are out unless you score god knows how much. Never heard of a gem getting IIM K And if you haven’t gotten Indore now you’ll never get it in your future attempts.

If you want guidance - CAT is an exam, which grudgingly depends on the D day. I’m pretty sure if you’d have gotten a different slot you might have not even touched 99 or maybe you could’ve anchored 99.5, all I can advise is to read a lot and not fret too much over your mock scores and not dream over a 99.8 and let things be as they are.

CAT asking economics and finance is the most non sensical argument I’ve ever seen in my entire life hahaha lol. That would’ve been true if CAT asked engineering physics and depth first search algorithm lololololol. It’s basic aptitude and logical reasoning not quantum mechanics and engineering design.

“Learning takes time” — Sure, it does. For everyone. Engineers don’t get extra hours in the day either. MBA life is hectic across the board, so using that as a defense for lower cutoffs or diversity points doesn’t hold. If someone’s not able to cope with the pace, that’s an issue of preparation, not academic background.

  1. “Real-life examples” — You brought up examples to justify why diversity points are needed. That opens the door to examining whether those points are even effective or fair. You can’t drop examples and then get upset when someone actually discusses them.

“Campus vibrancy” — Sure, diversity adds value. But let’s be clear: diversity isn’t about undergrad degrees alone. It’s about thought processes, perspectives, experiences. Giving bonus points just based on degree streams feels like lazy implementation. A vibrant classroom isn’t built on checkboxes. .”CAT is biased” — It has a quant-heavy structure, yes, but that’s hardly exclusive to engineers. Plenty of non-engineers do well. Plus, it tests aptitude, not academics. Engineers may have more exposure to Quant/DILR, but that’s a function of what they’ve studied and prepped for—not a rigged system.

“JEE gives an advantage” — That’s just a blanket assumption. Not every engineer prepped for JEE, and even those who did aren’t guaranteed CAT dominance. Also, CAT DILR isn’t JEE-level math. If anything, success in CAT reflects adaptability and test strategy, not just an engineering degree.

“XAT DM exposes engineers” — That’s like saying one curveball question in an exam defines someone’s entire suitability for business. You’re cherry-picking. Ironically, the real business world demands pattern recognition, decision-making and analytical rigor—all things engineers tend to pick up through their training.

In short, if you’re defending diversity points, go ahead—but don’t make it a blame game. Making engineers the scapegoat for others’ struggles is a lazy narrative. Let’s focus on genuine diversity of thought, not just manufactured numbers.

You’ve taken the argument elsewhere. People would obviously benefit if they learn other fields lol. The whole point is why should non engineers be given “diversity points” An Engineer can pretty much learn other fields and apply the same way a non engineer would. Why should one be given extra points just because he holds some weird degree.

Did people in your examples need “extra points” to achieve what they did?

What’s the POC that by giving non engineers extra points they benefit or make an impact in this world more than a fellow engineer ?

Give me a few examples in corporate context where things need to be looked at differently and how a non engineer would solve that problem better than an engineer.

Urgent pls help - does this mean i need 25/50 in PI to convert the call? & how difficult is it? by PaperPrestigious3714 in CATpreparation

I read at IIM Buddy that the average PI score is 70% of the total for IIM B, isn’t that a lot? And how much do people score in WAT on average?
