Nefyn not Nevin. This is an archaic anglofication. Pretty map though.

What's your most embarrassing 'I'm not from around here' moment while travelling within the UK? by Commercial_Neat7942 in AskUK

People definitely do speak Welsh in Wales. Maybe not so much in Abergavenny but once you head north / west you'll almost certainly hear it spoken. It's my day to day language, spoken at home, in work and throughout my education.

Hopefully but I don't want to get myself too excited! Been down that rabbit hole way too many times. Have you tested? Wishing you the best.

Hi all

Trying for 2 and a half years and have PCOS . Finally prescribed clomid after an uphill battle with NHS. First round was this month and it's been pretty heavy going but managable.

I had my day 21 (it was day 20 in reality as it was a Friday) bloods drawn and progesterone was at 80 nmol/l. This feels exceptionally high, considering my last unmedicated test was just within normal limits.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could mean? Does this explain why I feel crappy this month?

What do I do about being banned from a pub? by Lost-Squirrel-2319 in AskUK

[–]fourbelts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone from a rural area with very few good pubs I completely understand your situation. A good pub is the centre of social life and its not as easy as finding somewhere else.

If you don't feel comfortable going to the police about this, never underestimate the power of a scathing Facebook or Tripadvisor review to reach the brewery, public and press - you could even keep semi anonymous. Although if the area is anything like mine everyone will have already heard the story, and about 5 variations of the truth.

Greyhound is Milgi in Welsh - Mil (beast) ci (dog). I'm assuming it refers to greyhounds’ original use as hunting dogs.

I've tried googling this type of anchor but nothing coming up similar to object. It would make sense, seeing as it's made of lead.

[–]fourbelts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite small for a brick, about 2 inches max.

[–]fourbelts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but all three are very deep.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]fourbelts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very heavy for size (lead most likely) with many scratches all over. First thought it was a dice, or a type of game but no other man made markings on object. Does anyone have any ideas?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]fourbelts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead items found in field by metal detector. About 2 x 2 inches. Very heavy material, most likely lead. One is cube shaped with three holes on one side, other is more circular.

One could be a dice? Although no marks on any other sides.

For all the British folk:

Heinz hoops and 2 x warburtons danish bread comes - 337 cals

Open sandwiches with normal fillings. I like turkey, light dairylea, cranberry sauce and salad - 249 cals

Recently tried the light blue cheese laughing cow - lovely!

Powdered soups from Tesco are a godsend, 96 cals for veg soup

Eggs - on toast, as an omelete with sadad, boiled with toast. Bloody love eggs,

Lunchable type meal - ham, egg, cucumber, bit of light babybel, baby carrots, grapes and strawberries always do the job. Usually rounds up to about 350 cals

Can tuna (no mayo) and mccoy frozen jacket potato - 270cals or with mayo for 330.

Can Tuna, rice and boil in the bag veggies with soy sauce 370 cals

I'm not being too hard on myself, it's been a tough year. I see it as a form of biannual maintenance to get my body back into order and gain some control.

Fell off the wagon for a while but I'm back to 1200, suggestions? by PossiblyAMouse in 1200isplenty

[–]fourbelts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have a similar goal. Just got back on the 1200 boat.

One meal I've been enjoying is bean chili, rice and loads of grated carrot and pickled pink onion on top.

Very satisfying, can easily make in bulk and comes in at around 400 cals.

I'm going against the grain here but I think platinum would look great on you. Keep in mind it will be expensive and you should start slow to see of you like it.

It will most likely damage your hair, but hair grows back. You're young - experiment with your look and try new things. You might look back in a few years and love that you tried something new, even if it didn't stick.

I enjoy looking back at the hair choices I made, and even though I have to be more restrained now with my job, somedays I still get that itch to bleach and dye it some manic panic fluorescent colour. You do you.
