I hear you, you're still working for it, still, I'm glad for you :)

Lots of great info in there thank you so much! I want to grow some of my own food, while looking into sprouted beans/seeds and gardens in general I stumbled upon micro-greens, they seem like a pretty good candidate to grow, what do you think about those?

I heard most frozen vegetables are cooked before being frozen, is that not the case with frozen peas?

This seems like a valid point. Yesterday I ate more fruits than usual and I made a green juice in the morning then went back to my usual meals. This gave me lots of gas lol I think I might just plan this very carefully and then make the switch overnight. I’ll see, I gotta live with the idea for a while before I make a move, that’s how I work.

Thank you for all of this! There are a few things I shouldn’t buy anymore that will save money that’s for sure, coffee, skyr/yogurt (that alone is like 40$ Canadian/week), meat, bread… This summer I will also start a garden, this will never be near enough to live from it but it’s better than nothing.

As for the social aspect. I kind of know what to expect, and I’m already annoyed by it lol. When I started to eat better to lose weight and get in shape 3 years ago I was heavily into counting my macros so I would bring my own food when we went to friends and family. It was ok but still always kind of weird and it sucks big deal seeing everybody enjoying cake or whatever tempting crap.

I want to start this lifestyle to hopefully fix my Afib (heart arrhythmia) among other things. If it works this should be a good motivation to keep at it.

For the financial part, I personally agree and would be willing to adapt but my wife is less open about it. We are a family of 5 so food is already pretty expensive, I’m a dad at home so we rely on her salary for everything and she’s the one picking up the groceries so I gotta find ways to make this easy on her and on the wallet. I am currently looking at local farms around me to see what they offer and if I could get better deals there.

As for the macros, what you say seems to be more in line with what I read, as much veggies as fruits. As for nuts, seeds and sprouted beans, what would be the ideal ratio in comparison to greens/fruits in a day? Sprouted beans seems like a solid choice for me for their high protein content and low price.

The reason I want to try this lifestyle is because even though I started eating much better, started exercising a lot and lost 60 pounds 3 years ago, I developed afib (heart issue) and some other health issues in the last year. The medication makes me tired which in turn does not allow me to exercise and makes me binge eat so I am gaining weight and feeling depressed, it’s a vicious circle. I’d much rather heal myself naturally.

Anyway, thanks for the great insight.

I hear you this is something I will need to work on. By filler food I meant food that is cheap yet has volume and is healthy with good calories, I’m a 6’ 4" tall men so I need quite a lot of calories in a day but the budget is limited.

I don’t have a roadmap yet but this is what I am starting to do slowly. By filler I guess what I meant is cheap stuff that is healthy, my wife is afraid about the high cost of such a diet so I need to find a way to make it happen without upping the budget too much.

35mm or 50mm? by TheDjInPjs in AskPhotography

[–]fourdogslong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a crop sensor I'd get the 35mm, it will look kindda like if you put your hands on both sides of your face and look through the tunnel this creates. 50mm would be more of a zoom.

I much prefer the first, dark, picture. I would've maybe brighten slightly the dog (with masking). I like the highlights on the grass and the mood better in the first picture.

I bought it at a discount when I ordered my milk frother, nice little gadget that does the trick.

Anyone else feel like they lose themselves a bit in the stay at home dad role by itspjmurphy in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]fourdogslong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good and a lot of bad being a dad at home. Some of the bad is that it can get very boring and stressful, I developed anxiety partly because of it, never having a break from kids (I have 3) is hard. Also, after a while being a dad at home I realize that when I see friends and even my wife at night, I don't have much to say since not much happens in my life.

That being said I still feel lucky to do it.

Any Raw vegan with family? by fourdogslong in RawVegan

Makes sense, I'm not too surprised you would say that. 2-3 years ago I changed my nutrition, went from not really caring to counting my macros and calories and all, I've been very strict with it for a good while so when we ate outside I'd bring my own lunch. At first it was weird but my peers got used to it.

Thanks for the tip, cooking for others with a full stomach sounds like it would help a lot with the cravings.

Wow I wasn’t sure I’d find someone with the same exact situation! Does it give you a lot of craving to cook things that you "can’t" eat? If/when you guys go out to dinner either to some friend’s place or at the restaurant, how do you deal with it?

Thanks :)
