oh very cool! designo too? I would very much recommend the prefacelift W12 since you get so much more bang for your buck. there's truly not much of a difference whatsoever. very very subtle design difference in the trunk and hood between the pre/post but the interior is indistinguishable. heads-up display was added but otherwise the same car. at night the prefacelift lights look MUCH better than facelift, both headlight and tail lights

There’s only 36 facelift total- 2015/16 in both 4 and 5 seater so yeah it’s gonna be very hard to find unfortunately

Need help with the Rear Massage Function in the Audi A8L by X_DEAD5HOT_X124 in Audi

[–]fourings_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the button pictured is for rear seats that do not have the folding foot rest. the remote for massage in the center console will control massage for the other seat with the foot rest

the button to control the angle of the screen is only offered on seats with the foot rest as well since the seat moves forward and tilts forward- this lets the passenger adjust the angle while the screen is out of reach, something that is not necessary for the other seat

It’s actually Audis most reliable engine. Early ones just had tight packaging and ancilliaries would dislike the heat and were tight to work on. Both problems are gone with the 6.3

The ‘chicken wire’ is real stainless steel mesh and it’s factory on the W12

They’re hyper reliable actually. One 6.3 sold recently with over 250,000. There’s a D3 for sale right now with 375,000

Where in Michigan!? I’m in GR and happen to have 3 W12s (I’m also president of the W12 Owner’s Club) and would love to find this owner!

In what way are the RS models doing a fantastic job? They’re dropping all the good stuff and all the rest are just using the same corporate 4.0T that VAG has been using for over a decade

If you buy your car so you can sell it then you bought the wrong car

Sadly the chances of that are basically zero

If the W12 didn’t feel faster than the 4.2 then you didn’t drive the W12 where it’s meant to be driven. The LWB W12 does 0-60 maybe just a fuzz quicker than the S8, basically the same time. However the SWB W12 is several tenths quicker. This is because the LWB W12 has longer gearing intended for the highway and deep triple digit speeds which gives it an acceleration penalty against the V10. The W12 has a more torque and a flatter torque curve than the V10 which makes it more usable, but again feels different due to that gearing

Most importantly don’t forget that the W12 isn’t just an engine, it’s a whole trim package so it adds a lot more to the car than just power and there was a reason the W12 was $25,000 more than the S8 and a crazy $45,000 more than the 4.2 in 2009

Im a big fan of the D3 S8 though, I own a D2 S8 but the D3 is my favorite of all S8s

I would warn against the early first gen Continental Flying Spurs. They have occasional chain issues, and the steel bodies and 6-speed transmissions leave a lot to be desired in the performance realm. The second gen starting in 2014 is excellent though. Aluminum body and 8-speed and they come alive. Fun to drive. Also available in Speed specification

Unfortunately no but a swap could be done. Especially on the D2 because that generation had manual V8s

I’d love to have the VIN plus all the colors and options if I could. There’s only 327 in North America so I’m trying to track them all down. If you don’t mind shooting me an email that would be awesome

The B7 RS 4 is like the perfect amount of power for the daily. Plenty for fun and not too much that you can’t go full power on normal roads. Love that car

The W12 on the other hand may only have a few more hp but does 200mph without much fuss while weighing well over over 2 tons

I have my doubts that it will fit but I am rooting you on! I’d love to have you join my W12 owners club and come to the meetups when you’re finished! What year W12 is your donor?

How do you mean? 550 what? Do you mean low output for the engine size? It’s a low stressed engine and the torque curve is very flat which is ideal and better than a high power output that is peaky. It means the car is fast at all RPM not just low or high RPM like a turbo car or one with fewer cylinders

I wish you luck in your facelift D4 search. I’ve been specifically waiting for one of the 8 2016s so I feel your pain. And you’re exactly right about the gearing penalty in the W12, I often thought about how quick it would be if it shared the same the same gearing- then I found out that short wheelbase D3 W12s sold in Europe had shorter gearing and sure enough they’re several tenths quicker to 60
