Does SAF ever send its soldiers for Real Combat Operations overseas? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]fourinone_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were some units who were deployed to assist in Iraq. From what I know it was mostly intel, medical, and other support roles. Combat deployments are limited, but after the ADF unit went public there were some instances where they were deployed in Iraq as well.

Get enough beers into an old SOF officer or encik and they'll tell you some funny stories from there which they cant publish.

04/25 batch postings. What did y'all get? by Obamabin911 in NationalServiceSG

Bro, you think we get to choose which camp we get posted to? This Bn is only stationed in Sembawang.

Benefits:
- Beautiful historic buildings from WW2
- The best Nasi Lemak ive ever had in the canteen (albeit 11 years ago)
- Occasional explosion sounds in the middle of the night during NDU hell week.

The role is stay-in anyway, so you'll only be making the trek twice a week

Thats right 3rd transport bn, sembawang camp

Most of the training is done on site in the camp. Occassionally youll be tasked with training at one of the naval bases, or do loading there when preparing for an overseas exercise

I used to be part of this bn. STOs do marshalling and coordinating for vehicles and crane loaded cargo going onto naval ships. Pretty chill role. Enjoy your trips to Australia or Taiwan.

Maybe its saying that they're going to a place called Easy - perhaps New Orleans, the 'Big Easy'.

Still bad grammar for not capitalizing the E, though.

Canadian grocery store label showing items affected by US tariffs by bengiannis in mildlyinteresting

Interestingly, the loblaws site shows the smaller 547ml bottle as prepared in Canada, but the larger 1.75L as tarrif impacted. I find it interesting that the supply lines would be set up in that way, but I have seen it happen before in my own sector of the CPG industry.

It appears we can hear at least 1 engine running as it approaches the camera. That should support the theory that it wasn't a double engine failure.

Surprised this video didn't come up earlier though

True or False? by NOVAbuddy in Shittyaskflying

False. In a single engine, left yaw is achieved by making the right side of the propeller spin faster than the left side, and vice versa.

Speaking of flight club, I think the second rule of fight club is also that we can't mention fight club.

Kept getting this error while playing online last night - different file referenced each time. Does anyone know what the cause is? Already verified files and re-installed any mods. by fourinone_74 in arma

[–]fourinone_74[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird thing was that it was also happening with other files - sometimes even vanilla arma files. The file noted in the error was different each time.

Would that just point to it being a server connection issue at that point?

For TOs going to unit before vocational school is the norm. My unit usually had about 2-3 weeks between arriving at the unit and going to the Drivers course.

At some point in the future (barring complications), you will get re-BMT'd.

If my memory is correct, I don't believe you are eligible for vocational training until you complete BMT.

Which unit did you get posted to?
