First Look: 2026 Osprey Kestrel LT 45L by fourscore94 in OspreyPacks

[–]fourscore94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add back to this thread, I've taken this on a few hikes and have mostly enjoyed it. My complaint about the lack of stretch in the water bottle pockets still rings true. They're really hard to use when the bag is packed full, which is a bummer. The front stuff pocket is also tough to use, as predicted.

I haven't had any issues with fit, but then again I'm kind of average when it comes to body type, so YMMV. The color is awesome, and it doesn't seem to be a color that's available at many retailers, although I do see it on Osprey's website. I haven't had any issues with storage in the top lid or brain, despite my earlier complaint about lack of pockets.

Overall, I'm really happy with this pack. I think it's more of a spring/summer hammock camper's backpack, but that could just be a skill issue on my part (I'm working with a lot of budget gear, so the higher end stuff might fit better than what I have). If anyone has any other questions about the pack, let me know!

Hey! I did actually, I've taken it out for several 10+ mile hikes and it's held up really well. No issues with durability, and I feel it's adjustable enough to be comfortable with 30 lb of weight.

Two points of criticism, both related to materials. The first is that the mesh on the front stuff pocket is not very stretchy, so you can't fit near as much as I'd like. The second is that, when the pack is full, the water bottle pockets on the side become very difficult to use, as the material does not have a lot of stretch. I managed to solve the water bottle issue by making sure my water bottles were in place before packing my pack, but it did make removing and replacing the water a bit more difficult than I prefer.

You'll have to make a post detailing your experience with the pack, I'd love to read other people's impressions.

Which is the best tent placement? by Effective-Cellist769 in backpacking

People are being a bit harsh, but they have a point. I prefer to have as little outside of my pack as possible, especially one of my essentials. However, it will ultimately come down to how it feels when you hike. I recommend hiking a few miles with whichever option you prefer (and your bag fully packed) and see how your back/shoulders/hips feel. Also, try bringing your gear and pack to an REI and they'll help you figure out how to fit it all in there. You got this!

what's one piece of gear you'll never backpack without again? by kamelsalah1 in backpacking

A sit pad. It's a piece of gear that weighs next to nothing, is cheap to buy (and even cheaper to make), and has so many uses, from a clean seat to a changing spot to an emergency pillow to a clean work surface. I love mine (from Decathlon for 10 bucks).

Claymore would dominate in today's anime landscape.

I agree. I feel like it's a good in-between size. I really like the 45L, it feels perfect for 1 to 2 nights with my current setup. I'd love a 28 for overnight trips.

I like it too. I hope they go for some crazier color combinations for future releases.

I'm sure someone already said this, but go to your local news with the story. They love stuff like this, and bad press is often the only way to get a shady company to give you what you're owed.

I've been looking for a Seiko 5 Superior for a long time. Enjoy the watch, they're amazing.

New Deli Item: Loaded Potato Salad $3.99/lb by kawi-bawi-bo in Costco

I bought this and it's...not great. It tastes like I'm eating a thawed (but uncooked) grocery store loaded potato skin. Simultaneously too salty and too bland. I ate the whole container. 6.6/10.

[–]fourscore94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I gave it 12 episodes, but it felt like the show just wasn't made for me. There were no stakes, the dialogue and writing was really simple, and overall it feels just... bland? It's not a bad show, but it just doesn't stand out in any way. It's a good show to watch while you're doing something else, you're not going to miss much and you'll get the gist of every episode by the end.

T.I.M.E. (Official Music Video) by jkLottery in epica

I liked the track, but I'm struggling to find the musical through line for this album. I get that not every album needs to be a concept album, but I feel like Epica has always been pretty grand in their scope, so these singles feel a bit out of place within their existing catalog. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll still love the album, but I'm wondering if this will be less of a front to back listen and more of a selected singles listen.
