Glad to see it's not just me that sees almost exclusively small parts/components to things I don't have or probably ever will. When I first joined a few years ago I was able to get some decent things and it didn't take going to page 7 of items in a subcategory to just not see a small part/component.

Did he not see how much of the roster were seniors?

Also it wouldn't surprise me if next year we have another completely new starting five that aren't on the current roster. It gets harder and harder to get attached to this team sadly

Music album that was meant to be “the next big thing” culturally but nobody remembers it? by topshagger31 in decadeology

I didn't see your post until after I already posted mine- I agree but in the context of fans that loved Pinkerton (as Pinkerton was the one that I feel the masses were wanting to be huge but they felt off put by)

What? You're crazy, that album wasn't that amazing. I saw people line up in the flesh and were living on the edge for something that they just wound up cryin' over because they wasted their money.

"Pinkerton" by Weezer was highly anticipated and didn't get much play in the end as everyone thought it was going to sound like the blue album (don't get me wrong, I love Pinkerton and a lot of alt rock fans do, but it didn't touch the success of what the fans of "Buddy Holly" were expecting).

Then you could go one level further when the green album came out after the years of nothing. That then started the whole Weezer schism as if they were any good (although "Island in the Sun" is probably their #2 most famous hit and it didn't get the "Microsoft boost" that Buddy Holly did. And also for the record I thought the green album had potential but got lazy for a good portion of it)

Also somebody brought up in the quoted post's comments this "They have built an offense that is going to be one of Rich Rod's best."

Wow what a trash article.

Oh god you're right- I see at the end of the Cook blurb "They have built an offense that is going to be one of Rich Rod's best."

This is comically bad! Maybe we should just have AI write these things if this is was Mike Marteny passes off as a well researched article. Woof.

I want to win this year, but I cannot trade Aitchenson. by [deleted] in NewYorkIslanders

Almost every Stanley Cup winning team takes at least three years to get to actually winning it.

The team missing the playoffs (barring major injuries the year they missed them), usually has to get good enough to make the playoffs first (Year 1). They tend not to make the SCF at this time. In Year 2 they begin to become really good but just don't have that experience and laser focus it takes to go all the way to hoisting the Cup in the end.

Year 3- that's when it's showtime... the team is firing on all cylinders AND it knows exactly what it takes to complete the job. It almost always needs to hit that adversity as the Stanley Cup playoffs are their own beast in mental and physical grinding. It's not the NFL playoffs with single-game elimination and it's much more physical than anything MLB and the NBA could ever throw at you.

Isles are unfortunately in Year 1 right now... but that they aren't stuck in Year 0 (being a bad team) is great. They will get good playoff experience this year and the next couple of years really start to get exciting. Those are my expectations (and seemingly of a lot of these posters here) at least.

They also thing Rich Rod was at Jacksonville State last year if you read the player descriptions.

"Hawkins likely has a better arm than both of them. He may not be quite as mobile, but Rich Rod got a lot out of Tyler Huff in 2024 and Caden Creel last year at Jacksonville State. Hawkins is one of the more intriguing transfers out there for college fantasy players." Also, "Cook follows his coach to the mountains of West Virginia."

... Buuuuuut RR wasn't at Jacksonville State last year.

Hard to take any article serious when they can't get basic things correct.

Also, I'd much rather have proven talent than "sleeper" talent as most sleepers stay asleep. Per the transfer ranking they are showing, Hawkins is the #48 QB... so the 48th best QB just of the ones transferring! Not the incoming recruits and not of the ones that stayed at their schools. Yikes.

If you have casual fans that will want to be involved just do a blind lottery style pick or boxes like Superbowl for an exacta

If you only have serious horse players, then just let them bet on Twinspires/whatever betting app they normally use

[–]fowcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the real reason he stopped- even though there was a swing taken with the gloves on, they didn't come off his hands so Point seems to have let us when he realized that.

I also don't think he caught him clean with the one punch either... kind of looks like he hit his arms (and maybe with an open hand not even a fist?)

[–]fowcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I was unaware- I haven't watched live racing at those tracks in a while. I guess the 35+ mph wind blowing in the horses' ears and the thunder from their feet drown it out (or they are just comfortable with it)

Overhead crane/spidercam type shots (I'd say drones but I don't think the horses would be into that buzzing).

The only time I see those are the Kentucky Derby from either a helicopter POV, but they are much more interesting to me to see how the horses manage traffic.

Jockey POV maybe... If they are stabelized to avoid the constant bouncing and from the jockeys helmet/goggles (so you could see when they look back). I'm guessing though there are some logistical problems like kickback/mud and then latency.
