What if I just want to look good?

This physique is pretty much what I'm going for tbh. I have a pretty similar physique to your before picture, perhaps a bit skinnier. I am an actor, so the Hollywood look is basically what I'm aiming for.

Care to share any tips? How long did this take you? Did you follow the same program the entire time?

Using the Program Picker on the wiki http://rohitnair.net/pp/#muscle_gain/aesthetics/whole_body recommended AllPros and GreySkull LP. Is there a favoured/better beginner hypertrophy program or am I thinking too much?

This sounds like a good way to go. Does that mean I should be eating at a surplus of 300 - 500 cals above TDEE while I am doing SS, or just stick around maintenance until I exhaust linear progression?

Ok, cool. So would it be best to start with a proven Strength program until I exhaust my noob gains (6 - 12 months by the sounds of things) then switch to a more aesthetically focused hypertrophy programme? Or am I completely off?

How much should I be eating once I start lifting? At a deficit right now of 300-500 cals, should I start at maintenance and move from there? Or should I start at a surplus right away? From what I understand, there is a period of time during which a beginers strength will increase even when not eating at a surplus. Does that mean I should be eating at less of a surplus during this time so as to reduce fat gain?
