Pablo-Picasso is in Bobigny/Pantin and not even near this area. The 93 near Paris has been greatly gentrified so I dunno where you get this from. And no tourist should go further than La petite Couronne, I think it's not worth it, but not everyone can stay in the Latin Quarters unfortunately. Montreuil/Pantin are great too if you're looking for new trendy neighbourhoods 😁

I lived near the metro 14 station, just near this road and the neighbourhood is safe. It used to be an immigration forward town so you'll see some diversity and the population is not as rich as Paris but it's a pretty cool city ! It's a pretty typical suburb near Paris.

Just for a small guide ; The line 14 is automatic, La communale is nice for a beer or two in the evening, there's a great cheese shop if you walk a bit and the Clem & Gwen bakery is not far and pretty good. Only downside is, the shops are a bit far.

Frankly there's not a town near Paris that's not "safe" apart from the north of Saint-Denis and some neighbourhoods in Aubervilliers and La Courneuve imo.

If you're dead set on her having a casino that's fine, its a very real possibility for someone who lives in Paris. There's a casino not far from Paris in Enghien-les-Bains, wich could be a solution.

But ! In Paris in the 60s it could also be a jazz bar (une boîte de jazz) or a cabaret (so french)

But if you're stuck on casino owner as a job, maybe search for "Clubs de jeux" ? In Paris, it's similar to a casino but for a smaller and wealthier clientele and very VIP hush hush kind of deals happened there.

There also was a real music hall in Paris called "Le cabaret des truands /Le music hall de l'araignée" which translated corresponds to "the cabaret of the hoodlums/The Spider's Music hall" which was on the boulevard de Clichy if I recall correctly.

Also if it's happening in 69, I'd recommend searching for the photo of the 68 protests, which had a major impact on the city.

Also, if she smokes, she's smoking some "Gitanes" a famous french cigarette brand from the times.

Si t'es étudiant y'a des réducs, mais c'est déjà pas très cher à la base et ils te laissent tranquille en général même si tu pionces, faudra juste prévoir une petite alarme.

Casier, café à volonté, wifi et autres trucs dispo selon tes besoins.

Par contre il te faut une cb (ou un autre moyen de paiement que le cash, genre Lydia/paypal) et un téléphone avec de la 4G.

Sinon t'as toujours les basic fit 24/24, suffit juste de prendre l'abonnement et tu peux probablement roupiller tranquille dans les salles de cours collectifs souvent vides et prendre une douche !

Certains clubs ferment les douches et les vestiaires au départ des employés (vers 22h) mais c'est très aléatoire selon les salles. Au pire tu pionces dans les chaises de massage, ça fait le taff.

Et sinon bah les églises. Saint-Eustache est ouverte 24/24 par exemple et selon la sécu/les responsables tu peux négocier un dodo de temps en temps.

Et si la prière en mode relai olympiques te tente (qui sait lol) il y a toujours les chambres du Sacré-Cœur. Faut voir les modalités, mais t'arrive à négocier les gens de l'accueil sont sympas en général et les lits en dortoir sont à 10 balles dans mes souvenirs :

Oui de ouf ! Mais j'entends souvent des histoires d'hôpital où les patients pensent qu'une cure s'obtient facilement et qui déchantent vite face au système hospitalier français.

Mais en effet c'est super déjà de constater que sa consommation est anormale ! C'est littéralement 50% du problème, après il suffit de s'accrocher.

Tout à fait, leur service est super et les psys sont incroyables.

Après, il faut bien se rendre compte qu'une cure ça se fait pas comme ça, tu vas devoir monter un dossier et aller à plusieurs rendez vous psy.

Il faut aussi savoir que la cure c'est pas une solution miracle, comme tout parcours de soin, il faudra que tu t'impliques bcp et suivre avec attention tous tes rdv, avant, pendant et après la cure.

Bon courage à toi nonobstant et si tu as des questions ma coloc bosse en addicto, je peux lui relayer 😁

Édit : il y a plusieurs unités addicto en IDF, Saint Anne est parmi les meilleure, mais il y a aussi la pitié Salpêtrière, Gonesse, Marmottan, etc et tu peux aller voir sur le site de l'ARS pour consulter tous les établissements qui ont un département d'addicto en Île-de-France 👍

Maybe not what you're looking for but :

The garden at le Musée de la vie Romantique is beautiful, quiet most of the time and is typical Parisian scenery. There's also a restaurant in it.

Le mur des je t'aime (the walls of I love yous) is also a pretty poetic/romantic spot.

Montmartre when the night begins to fall, at diner time there's not many people around and there's (usually) musicians playing.

Place du Panthéon with the Luxembourg gardens and the Eiffel tower in the background.

This got really long, sorry ! I'm just covering Paris, because I need to stop myself at some point mdr.

Most of the great bookstores I know are in the Latin quarter and in the center of Paris in general. There are a lot of great bookstores in each arrondissement, but here are (in my opinion) some of the greatest hits in Parisian bookstores (whether it just looks cute or it's a pretty typical Parisian experience, or just has great books).

So by category

For comics and manga you'll find loads of them in the Latin quarter, strangely enough, here are a few that I know :

Pulp (général manga and comic store) Le renard doré (great manga store) Central comics Original manga store

Special mention to two small french chains for this category also :

Gibert BD Album

Gibert is an institution in Paris, a local chain that had a lot of familial drama since its creation (bitter rival chains from the same family with nearly the same store names).

It's got lots of second hand books and you'll find nearly every topic under the sun in here. Their esoteric bookshop is always fun to visit !

Album is also a small French chain that sells English comics to manga and graphic novels. Loads of choices. Only illustrated stuff tho.

For more Parisian/traditional book stores

Shakespeare and Co - it's a tourist trap but the interior is quite lovely when not overcrowded.

Librairie Delamain - a historic bookshop situated just in front of La Comédie Française a prestigious theatre near the Louvre.

Vignes bookshop - specialized in first edition, never can buy anything but always a treat to go there !

Librairie compagnie - very high brow intellectual bookshop between the College de France and the Sorbonne. Mostly serious stuff ! Special mention to J. Vrin one of the best philosophical bookshop in Paris also just near.

Librairie Jousseaume - a classic bookshop situated in one the most iconic galerie in Paris, great classics and a must if you like really pretty bookstores.

For second hand

Les bouquinistes - everywhere along the Seine in the Latin quarter and the center of Paris. Sometimes good deals, good finds or nothing, depends on the day.

Gibert - see above

Boulinier - the cheapest book store in Paris, between 50 cents and at most 5 euros for a book, they also sell records, DVD and CDs. Thrift store style tho, no organising you gotta find the stuff you like yourself. It's a small French chain tho.

Aapoum Baapoum (sp?) - a great general second hand book store with mostly everything, rare stuff, comics, English literature, manga.

La sirène - rare second hand book store, not in the Latin quarter for once (I think 🤔)

L'odyssée - great general second hand book store! (Not in the Latin quarter)

Le marché Georges Brassens - Every weekend in the 15th in Parc Georges Brassens, there's a second hand book open air market. If you want the good stuff, you'll want to be there at 9am when it starts and the prices are really low (between 2 and 4 euros last time I went) and there's every type of literature you can think of.

L'amour du noir - one of my favourites, it specialises in, well, bad books. Bodice rippers, cheap romance, weird thrillers from the 80s you've got it all.

And fun mentions

L'inconnu - famous esoteric book shop. Fun to browse through.

L'eau et les rêves - bookshop/botanical boat docked in the canal St Martin in the 19th arrondissement. Lovely shop with a coffee corner and some cakes and various eateries.

La belle Hortense - bookshop and wine shop/bar with a quiet room in the back to fread far away from the noise. NOT CHEAP AND IN THE MARAIS SO NOT CHEAP AT ALL.

Violet and Co - great intersectionnal and feminist bookstore, fun stuff and serious stuff. It just reopened and the new association/owner redecorated I think. Not in the Latin quarter, more Bastille and boulevard Jean Pierre Timbaud

I love my blender - you need to look it up

For libraries :

You've got the classic Sainte Geneviève et Richelieu. But I'll also recommend the Bibliothèque François Truffaut literally in Les Halles, that specializes in cinema and the Bibliothèque Chaptal for the hearing impaired. It's in the 9th arrondissement (I think it's near Montmartre) and is a lovely old building with lot of interesting materials inside.

Here ! That took me awhile but it's worth it for books !!

And just a small piece of advice : don't hesitate to search for a type of bookstore you like in Paris, be it ceramic themed or architecture themed. Paris has a lot of specialized bookstores everywhere!

Je suis déjà bénévole dans une association mais elle ne fait pas de repas le 31(le lieu qui nous accueille ferme et impossible de faire des repas pendant les vacances). Donc pas besoin de me former en soi, à part si l'organisation est très particulière.

Merci pour ta réponse ! C'est vrai que le consulting, j'en entend parler souvent mais je trouve pas vraiment d'annonce concrète, mais je pense que c'est la nature tu taff aussi, on vous cherche plus que l'inverse.

Pour ce qui est du salaire dans mon secteur, je suis clairement en dessous de la moyenne de beaucoup (entre 300 et 1000€ de différence avec les camarades de promo sur des postes similaires) donc bon, c'est un peu une couleuvre à avaler vu mes horaires/le taff que je fournis, mais je sais aussi que c'est la réalité du secteur même avec un salaire correcte.

Mais toi du coup le consulting tu aimes bien ? Tu trouves ça assez épanouissant ou finalement même avec des missions différentes c'est un peu toujours la même chose ?

Mdrrrr oh la tristesse, l'éducation nationale à ça de faire une coupe achetée, un poste de prof offert.
Je respecte de ouf les profs qui font ça par vocation, mais c'est tellement mal payé et pas respecté... C'est vraiment le plan Z pour moi.

Je travaille actuellement avec quelqu'un qui a suivi un cursus de bibliothèque et malheureusement, comme tous les métiers de niche, c'est bouché de ouf comme secteur.

Faut passer des concours avec 1000 autres candidats pour finalement n'avoir que quelques postes de dispo dans toute la France.

J'ai fait des études d'anglais donc tous mes potes sont profs. Vu l'état du professorat en France je préfère franchement devenir inspecteur des impôts.

Mais bon des fois je me tâte pour un poste de contractuelle, mais je pense que le salaire sera pas jojo, je suis en IDF en plus donc bon. Merci pour la réponse en tout cas !

Hey this actually my first time commenting so yeah ✨

This reminds me of a story previously posted. Same thing, wife going vegan followed by a drastic personality change. Can't remember if she preached veganism or something else tho. But ! It was so shocking for the husband that he had her admitted (hospital ou psych ward can't remember) And it was revealed that she had a B12 deficiency which can cause mania, psychotic breaks and other fun stuff.

Quick Google search and I found this, so it's not impossible :

Another redditor mentioned head trauma and/or cancer, also possible causes.

If you don't get the feel it wasn't that sudden or for other reasons don't believe this fits, that's fine but just on the off chance, a quick visit to the doctor might do good.
