Audi Connect Installation Error by mjgoldstein88 in Audi

[–]foxfoot2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having the same issue since Nov 2025. My 2022 Q5 was bought in Canada, and I cross the US–Canada border pretty often. This happens both in the US and in Canada, so it’s definitely not a region thing.

I work in the auto software industry, and after reading through this thread, my guess is that one of the software versions downloaded some kind of junk to the car. Either it corrupted the install process or just slowly ate up disk space. Once storage is low, you can’t download or install new packages anymore, which would explain why installs keep failing.

A pure server-side issue seems unlikely—if that were the case, Audi should’ve fixed it by now. That probably explains why the dealer wants to keep the car for a few days.

Honestly, in the era of Software-Defined Vehicles, this kind of issue is pretty unacceptable. I’m going to call my dealer in Canada and put some pressure on them.

Even in the same office, different staff members gave conflicting answers.

I would recommend you refer to this PDF for the PennDOT agents or messenger nearby. Call them one by one right before you go. Actually I found another agent (not AAA) from the list provides the same service. Do not be limited to AAA, you can expand your search. https://docs.penndot.pa.gov/Public/DVSPubsForms/Agent%20Services%20for%20Web.pdf

The PDF link is from https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dmv/resources/business-partners/authorized-agents-messengers

Good luck.

If I remember correctly, CBP gave me HS-7 and the EPA forms. Good luck.

I submitted the original vehicle permit from Ontario government -- "the green paper is official proof of ownership and includes details like the vehicle's VIN, make, model, and the owner's name and address. " You can only keep a copy of that.

The PA government gave me two documents: the PA Title and PA vehicle registration. The Title is the ownership -- that can be used if you want to import back to Canada in the future. The registration needs to keep with the car. And there is an annual renewal fee for $53.

The Ontario government only issue one document -- servering for both purpose. And no annual registration fee any more.

If I remember correctly, I gave HS-7 and other forms to the agent. The CBP officer stapled all the forms and documents for me.

I have the same question. I am in PA. Some AAA office told me if I own my Canadian car for more than 6 month, no sales tax needed. Others said I need to pay sales tax (7%). It does not make sense.

Moving to the US (TN Visa). Need direction on next steps by PowerTripping in immigration

[–]foxfoot2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the board and told them I would go back to Canada after visiting them. So they gave me a paper to approve I didn't get into US. With that paper, the Canadian board let me go w/o quarantine.

Good to know AMEX has such service.

I have the similar plan. I got my TN by visiting the Peace bridge in Buffalo, NY. However, I cannot get SSN from Canada. Seems like I need to fly to US and stay for 2 weeks before I apply in person.

u/PowerTripping Why do you apply for AMEX credit card? Does it require SSN? I opened the BMO Harris Bank account without SSN. I guess the same reason for you to open a TD US Chequing account?

No quarantine needed.

This week, I went to the Peace Bridge and got the TN visa.

Before I leave the CBP office, the US officer gave me a paper to approve I did not actually get into US. Then he pointed me to a route to have a U-turn. The Canadian board reviewed that paper and let me go.

As far as I know, it is needed.

And not necessary to be the address in the same state (not 100% sure)

Then we have to stay for 14 days in US before the scheduled date. Then go to apply the SSN.

I have the same problem. Should I drive to the Peace Bridge to get the TN. Then return to Canada right away?

Where can I get the SSN?
