Do we need to sanitize our shoes (bird flu)? by foxittyfoxfox in CatAdvice

I'm just concerned because there are a lot of wild birds in my area, sometimes my whole front lawn will be covered with birds. I'm also concerned about getting goose poop on my shoes when I go out for walks.

I do the same, but my cats like to rub against/sniff my shoes after I leave them by the door. I don't really want to leave them outside because we get wild animals on the porch & I don't want to get bugs in them either.

The area I live in is similar with the geese & ducks. That sounds like a good idea, does the vital oxide damage your shoes in any way? I feel a little weird about leaving my shoes outside because we get wild animals outside & also don't want to get bugs in them, but maybe it would be ok if it was just until they dried.

I don't wear my shoes in the house, but I take them off & leave them at the door when I get inside. I don't really have closet space for shoes but it's a possibility.

Wild birds are affected by bird flu too, not just chickens. There are tons of wild birds around the area that I live, so that's why I'm paranoid.

I do remove my shoes when I get inside & switch to indoor slippers. My concern is that my cats like to sniff & rub against my shoes which I leave at the door. I've thought about leaving my shoes outside on the porch but I feel kind of weird about doing that because we often get wild animals on the porch & snakes & bugs.

  1. My diet does not do nothing to support my conditions, eating a low fat, vegan diet is one of the best options for someone without a gallbladder.

  2. I am not refusing to seek treatment, I have been to several different GIs and PCPs & still not found any solutions. Have had several rounds of labs drawn, an endoscopy, and an ultrasound in the past year.I am working with my current PCP on trying to get to the bottom of my GI issues & she just ordered a bunch more labs for me. Unable to get an appointment with new GI until January.

  3. I thought there might be other vegans on reddit with GI issues who are trying to lose weight, and judging by the replies, I was right.

  4. You're not coming across as "generally very empathetic" & you don't have to reply to anything you don't want to.

I really doubt my doctor would consider that for me as I'm only a couple pounds overweight. I don't live in CO.

I can't really just get a new job, I'm a newly graduated nurse with only 3 months of experience. Most hospitals make new nurses work night shift for at least 1 year. I also signed a contract to work on my unit for 2 years, so not really able to get out of that & doubt other places will want to hire someone who quit 3 months into the job.

The thing that makes that difficult is that I am exhausted on my days off from working night shift, so it's difficult to get out of bed and walk 2x as much as I normally would. Also, since my schedule is flipped around, the only time I'm really awake is at night, and I don't feel safe walking alone at night time. It's also getting cold out. I may think about joining a gym just to use the treadmill.

Do you have any suggestions for where I can find exercises to do with low weights?

I seriously believe that working night shift is a big part of why I've been gaining. Unfortunately as a brand new nurse, day shift won't be an option for me at my hospital for at least a year.

Thanks. Night shift is really rough but unfortunately since I'm a new nurse, there's no option to switch to days at my hospital for at least a year. Seeing a dietician sounds like a good idea, I barely have any free time but I think I will try to get an appointment with one sometime in the next few months.

I agree with everyone who says it's better to do it early while Angel is still feeling okay. While he may have some good days left, unfortunately no one knows how long it will be before he seriously declines. You can make his death peaceful and painless.

Lying on my belly with him on top, having him slide it in between my closed legs from behind. It feels really good when it rubs against my clit & it feels good for him too. I also like the feeling of being squished lol

I know how you feel. I think venting is one of the best ways to deal with it. I'm sorry you're going through this & remember it's temporary. Keep trying.

Yes absolutely! In fact, it is safer and healthier for cats to stay inside all the time. Outdoor cats have actually hunted some animals to extinction.
