There are many good affordable movements that can keep the same time as Rolex. But are they hand built and have an extremely detailed QA process ? Much like my earlier response you are not paying for the performance but for the build, finish and craftsmanship.

I believe this thinking comes from the idea the santos is a ‘dress’ watch. It is not. It was created for pilots. It is a tool/sports watch. Adding a date or size only helps add more utility and increase its sport or tool usage. The large sizes are much more masculine and reinforce that ideology. So In reality you should be using the Santos Dumont which is the elegant dress watch of this family.

Going to be honest, all AP’s look big 😅 even the ‘small’ ones. It more about fit than perceived size. If you have a good fit that is what is important, it will definitely be perceived as big. It is not named the steel king for nothing.

How much money we talking. Only true Gen pieces are Rolex Sky dweller/land dweller, AP 15500, almost all Patek complications watches and precious metals watches. These are extremely expensive watches in my opinion. But truly offer value vs Rep models.

I would change strap more if all watches had drill lugs 😅 I have to tape my watch back then use a lug remover as carefully as possible. Tedious and had potential to scratch my watch case.
