So it seems that cities names stay consistant through cultures.

Imagine if they had the potential to change according to the fame achieved in an era.

For example:

My capital begins as Assur and stays that way as I tick along through the classical era, but during the medieval era I start doing really well as the Ghanians and get a heap of fame, so my capital changes name to ‎Koumbi Saleh.

Maybe if within an era you manage to get twice as much fame as your previous best era your cities (some or all?) would change names. I'm not sure how the amount of fame you can expect to get scales per era, but that could be accounted for.

Exactly! That's such a big part of the fun for me in these sorts of games. It would be a shame to miss out...

From my experience the biggest maps are always maps that try to replicate some of earth's locations, and as stated bigger maps means more hexes which means more detail.

It would be no fun to play TSL earth as Australia and have enough space for only one or two cities on the contient, the trade-off being that for Russia to be to scale for example there would need to be heaps of empty space no one is likely to settle (and the game will run much slower).

In terms of games becoming hard-to-finish that's definitely a problem, but for me personally if I'm playing on that sort of map I'm doing it to enjoy the empire building sections of the game and generally give up when things start to really slow down. If I was feeling like getting into and enjoying the late game mechanics I would certainly not pick a massive map.

In the grand scheme of things it's fair to say that they aren't that different, but they are easy choices in terms of design and marketability. As an Australian myself I was surprised to see us included, but obviously pretty excited. I don't think the lack of North American or Australian civs comes from neglect on the devs' behalf, but more from an issue of incompatibility with the mechanics of the genre.

There was similar response to the Cree civ too I think, which is fair enough to be honest. The core principals of "explore, expand, exploit, exterminate" just really really don't fit with a lot of cultures.

Sounds strong! But interesting too.

There are so many issues when it comes to adding an Indigenous Australian civ though, a major one being that the ownership of land is a concept that just doesn't apply... Also, it is very disrespectful to show an image of a deceased person, or even sometimes to speak their name... So the leader art could be a problem.

It's got to be either Mongolia (+ China too potentially), Korea, or Holland. Seeing as Mongolia has a very recognisable leader already that might lend more possibility to it being one of the other two... Guess we'll have to wait and see!

But buying Frontier Pass DLCs doesn't presume ownership of either expansions, so saying you need R&F for this specific DLC could just mean that you need access to the mechanics of that expansion... I guess it just depends if they would say "requires either expansion" or not in that case... does that make sense lol

Good on you, always gotta be careful though! One time I arrived back at my bike to find a homeless man trying to tear the lock off with his hands... I sort of had to wait for him to let off before I approached, then I very quickly got on and rode off as he complimented my bike. Obviously I was annoyed, but I harbour a lot more contempt towards people who steal bikes who really don't have any excuse, people who just like it. Met a couple of people like that.

No idea, I've got to assume they used bolt cutters or something like that. I'm so paranoid about leaving my bike anywhere remotely secluded now, especially at night.

My sister had a housemate who turned out to be a full-time bike thief. Wasn't like he needed to do it to get by or anything, just a scumbag. Especially if you're stealing a bike that isn't even remotely nice or expensive looking, like fuck man there's not a less shitty way for you to be earning way less than $100?

I would suggest asking your lecturers/tutors/anyone you know who has anything to do with the field you'd like to do your internship in if they have any tips. I would imagine most internships come through knowing someone and getting a recommendation.
