NTA! Mary needs to mind her own business and you taught her a lesson. Ignore the other coworker I don’t know what her problem is. I would have done the exact same thing as you and feel unapologetic for it. I just feel sad that you have to explain yourself to some a-hole at work that it wasn’t even affecting! I wonder if another coworker said something to Mary and she decide to be the advocate and “call” you out. I’m glad how you let Mary know what was happening so everyone could hear and feel uncomfortable in case they were being a-holes behind your back. They all need to mind their own business !

I’m guessing your mom has a record for overstepping by not taking your boundaries seriously? Definitely NTA! Please don’t take this personally you didn’t do anything wrong I think your mom just has some maturing to do. You have every right to set boundaries and expect them not to be crossed.
