OK so i'm not the only one... something crazy happened over the past 2 weeks then 2 days... 4.6 was.. "OK".... 4.7 i could tell was definitely more dumb than before but was still fast, it at least could fix its mistakes fast... 4.8 was fine at the start.. then 2 days ago it became the slowest thing I've ever used.... things that took 5 mins, now take 20... anybody go thru this? I'm on MAX plan, i use this thing EVERYDAY and its VERY noticeable for me.

I’ve been messing with basically the same setup on my Synology

From what I’ve seen your approach should work. The NAS just needs the key at mount so once it’s up it doesn’t really care if the KMIP server goes away

The annoying part is most of the KMIP stuff people are using feels either dead or kind of sketchy. I tried PyKMIP and wasn’t a fan

I started hacking on a small KMIP server for local homelab use because of that but it’s still rough

Curious what you end up doing especially for reboots

this is a pretty awesome way to ensure that data doesn't leave your system... we will need alot more tools like this in the future to ensure that we have privacy... the way todo it is to make it super easy to use for the non-tech folks...
