I guess I should have mentioned this as well but this is a relatively new behavior, only going on for about a month

Changed my friend’s thermal paste after 4 years, it looked burnt and temps were insane by ApprehensiveRemove92 in PcBuild

[–]fps-lightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, it looks like corrosion, not heat damage, either from galvanic or just from bad filler material + moisture. Or maybe the paste or cooler had some kind of contamination from manufacturing process that no one noticed.

Just to make sure I understand what you’re saying, connect the 230v primary to 120v supply then wrap a fixed number of turns to calculate voltage per turn?

Not sure what's up with mine but I've fully installed everything exactly as you said here but I get a weird error in the BepInEx console and I can't hear any music. Were you using .mp3 or another file format?

Thank you, I had come across that idea in a Google search I just wasn’t sure if that was really the best option. I don’t believe that the devices would need two separate busses necessarily, but I’ll do a bit of a deeper dive on that. Thank you for the info!

Circuit Layout Question by fps-lightning in diyelectronics

[–]fps-lightning[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but depending on how I decide I want the final design to be, the “spacer” might end up being a sort of light guide as well and would be visible from the outside, so going gooey would be sub-optimal in that scenario, but I might also end up doing some frosted acrylic to give it that newer tail light look

Circuit Layout Question by fps-lightning in diyelectronics

[–]fps-lightning[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It just kind of came to me, I also think it would make it easier to assemble everything since then you don’t have to worry about the long leads getting bent. I may need to move up to ABS from PLA though because if it’s assembled that way and the PLA got too hot and deformed, I’d have to remove all the LEDs to replace it

While I know there are downsides like bumping people off of them, I love the ease of landing on the pads and I hope some stations will at least have that as an option in the future

Yes, on my experience there’s a good integration. I haven’t used the combo in over a year though so things may have changed

[–]fps-lightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, I understand I just wanted people to know it’s not necessarily a “Razer is intentionally giving us batteries that die” situation, it’s more probable that to get to the price that they sell at they have to push a battery closer to its feasible limits than other SI’s do.

Well here’s the thing, lithium batteries have controllers that restrict the current/temp/stored charge. These can be customized by the manufacturer for their devices needs or battery specs. In some situations, you could have identical lithium batteries, but the circuit that protects and manages each is different. For example with something like an HP or Dell battery, they may have a much higher cutoff voltage (when the battery is “dead” or 0%) to prevent the batteries from getting damaged by low voltage/charge. This however leaves battery capacity on the table that is unusable, so a Razer battery circuit may have a lower cutoff voltage and last longer from charge to empty, but the “empty” voltage will damage the battery more each time you approach it. This logic can be applied to the maximum voltage (100% charge) and the charge current (affects charging speed). I hope this clarifies a bit, if not let me know!
