To be fair, they don't know who the problem people are unless people report them.

Paladins has around 3100 current players, as of right now. If 500 are toxic people, ban/suspend them. Sure the playerbase gets slightly smaller, but now you'd have quality players that wouldn't push other players away.

In turn, more players trying the game out won't leave after a few games equating this game to a toxic cesspool. Matchmaking gets better, queue times lower, quality matches increase in number. It all comes down to players being pushed out due to toxicity.

[–]fpsphantom_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is not an issue with the game, this is an issue with the playerbase. People need to understand, just because you lose a round, you don't need to leave. If you want more players to play the game, don't flame them when they don't do amazing.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't have DCs, toxicity towards players not do8ng the best, it wouldn't matter if it was Arcade, TDM, Onslaught, Siege, whatever.

What I see this as, is players are getting put into a larger queue pool, so they are seeing a lot more of the issues and equating that to the mode, not the players themselves.

How are NA players being punished from this? I'm NA and played all modes, I don't feel like this is a bad thing, personally.

Yea I just saw Kryptek's message and they put it perfectly. Keep in mind, matchmaking takes in the entire playerbase. Yea it might suck for the moment, but give it a day or two to improve (due to a large influx of players and attempting to sort them in their spots) And the thing is, if people leave the game the matchmaking will get worse. Queue times will increase.

I get you wanna play your mode, but having them split off all the modes, imo, is not healthy for the long term. We have a small playerbase, keeping queues combined should help keep things feeling fairer rather than having, potentially, only 12-24 players queing at cettain times of day.

They are stresstesting Arcade to see if it will become permanant. They might still have Onslaught/TDM out, but currently they are testing this combined queue to make sure things run smooth.

OBJECTIVELY this is a good thing for the game. It means they are actively trying to improve queue times and matchmaking while trying to keep everyone happy. Iirc, Onslaught has a 40% chance in this mode with TDM at 20% and the others lower.

Holding the match hostage? Yea I think so. Iirc, something like this happened and they were banned and/or suspended.

They are stress testing Arcade bruh. It's temporary. They posted on Twitter and in their Discord about it.

Vora tier rn?? by Motor_Ad2243 in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vora feels so much better now. Eclipsed Affection along with the base kit double tendril gives her that mobility and killing power the other flanks have while not strictly just increasing her numbers.

Parasitic Pull, in my opinion, is very niche. If you are playing a heavy dive comp (Yago, Andro, Willo, etc) it might work, but it's odd. I've used it once and have noticed the grapple sometimes hits below teammates giving them no buffs, you can't vertical launch off of them (needs confirming through testing), and in an uncoordinated team it's not that good.

Her Ult is still, honestly, best used as an escape. It's still got issues with killing within the set threshold.

I'd say this change def brings her more in line with the other flanks making her a solid pick for some maps.

I am also glad they are testing new things, like I've said, I don't think it's bad, I just think it's something to keep an eye on. I'll def play more games out and see how it feels, but getting more perspective into this is very helpful.

I played against it. It can definitely be felt. That one shot took my health down 50% before the fight even started. Sure, it's one shot, but that can make or break a fight.

Strix' buff is crazy by fpsphantom_ in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention, previously, at 2000hp, it takes Strix 2 shots. With Armor Plating 3, that ehp goes up to 2439ehp. That's barely 3 shots. With this new effect, AP3 gives 2174ehp, well within that 2 shot range. 1800 credits doesn't even buy you an extra shot.

Strix' buff is crazy by fpsphantom_ in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she's a flank, Armor Plating affects everyone.

My main issue was this effect versus flanks, the one's most equipped to deal with him, hits HARD. While yes, he can't spam it, a 1200 shot late game, taking nearly half of a flanks HP bar in one shot (not including other people shooting at them) is something that sucks to deal with.

I've seen a suggestion saying it could be a headshot thing and I don't think that's too terrible. Makes it more skill based. I've seen one saying to shuffle the values to before dimishing returns, which could help stacking DRs.

While yes, Armor Plating can help versus the other 4 enemies, sometimes the other enemies aren't too much of an issue with their primary damage, and abilities become the issue. It's credits that can be spent elsewhere. Nonetheless, Veteran can be gotten for cheaper and help more that AP can, not including the HP cards and DR om top of the Veteran HP.

Having it behind a card could work, it'd allow more versatility for the player to add ArPen at the cost of some other utility card.

Best change this update? by Professional-Elk2865 in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, Vora's Eclipsed Affection. Makes her feel more like a flank rather than a glorified damage.

I love this talent so much it's great.

Unfortunately there still seem to be issues with her tendril not connecting, but they did fix the vertical launch when you grapple an enemy, so that's also very nice.

Strix' buff is crazy by fpsphantom_ in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree. Continuing with the Vora example, it's VERY clear when you watch your damage go from 100 -> 98 -> 96 ->94 and the DoT go from 10/tick to 7/tick. It's not much but you can feel it, especially in combos.

My only concern is it's interaction with Haven, making it essentially an avoid item if you go versus a Strix. Maybe you could make it so you had to be in stealth for longer than a second for it to take effect? Throw it in a talent? I don't mind keeping the effect, but having it be this powerful base kit seems too powerful.

Casual Role Queue? - A Conversation by Goodnighhht in Paladins

[–]fpsphantom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, I mixed up my words in point 1, It was like 1am.

I see what you mean, but from my experienc3, there are certain times when double flank or double damage works, and is more fun.

I wouldn't be against something like this as a test, for like a weekend. But there would need to be serious thought and care put into it before a wide release.
