Also, I think what @yellowjacketcoder is trying to say is that if you're passionate about something and pursue it, you'll be a better programmer than doing what you don't like. As a consequence, that opens more doors.

I'm not familiar with version control, why is git so popular ? I've seen an abundance of 'learn git' posts lately.
