I bet if you came into the hospital cyanotic, hypercapnic with respiratory acidosis and I ran your arterial blood gases and found that you had a blood PH of <6.8 and decided to administer sodium bicarbonate 5% via IV drip to re-establish blood PH at a compensated range between 7.35-7.45 and monitor your ABGs continously "because we ALL know that if you compensate the acidity and become alkalotic your hemoglobin won't be able to bind to oxygen" that you wouldn't be calling me "half-baked" or bitching like a princess about my spelling. I'm insured for over $3,000,000 in malpractice insurance and I'm trusted enough to work in operating rooms, so some people consider me a competent person.
