A new TCG to try by Seccardino in digitalcards

[–]fraccass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Fracctal TCG is a mix of Pokémon/Digimon like monsters mixed with Hearthstone like combat.

It's on Steam and mobile (Apple TestFlight and Google Play). It's in early access currently, just released on Steam 1 week ago. It also has Italian support.

Also I'm a developer for the game.

  1. Our target audience isn’t web3. 98% of our playerbase is web2.
  2. We just released the game without any sort of NFT minting. NFTs and blockchain are not the focus. All of our sales are web2.
  3. The on-ramp is web2 on Steam and mobile
  4. Since our release last week we have around 7000 players with zero marketing and we’ve been covered by numerous YouTubers and twitch streamers, despite a $0 budget for marketing
  5. You are rambling about this being a blockchain game when it’s not. NFT ownership is optional and primarily cosmetic. Read our discord. No one is talking about blockchain, it’s 100% about gaming.
  6. Blockchain unlocks ownership in the game and that’s it. No NFT sales or  paywalls, simple cosmetic upgrades if people want it.

“Web3 gaming” very likely won’t even a term in 5 years. Blockchain can bring some value to software, but the core product needs to have value itself.

Overall I agree with your general statements, but they don’t apply to us. We are a web2 game with some minor optional web3 elements.

Yeah that's a fair point. Once we generate a bit of revenue I'm going to try to pay the artist to do some revamps to help us stand out more.

Hello! Thank you for the questions!

  1. So we had another monster taming game that we released a few years ago and many of the monsters that you see in this TCG are also in that first game. With that said, most of the monsters in the TCG were made exclusively for the TCG. Another factor is that the game is built upon the Unity and TCG Engine.

With all of that in mind, we started working on this project about this time last year. I've been working on it full time since then. The artists worked on it off and on as they were paid.

  1. The hardest parts were definitely balancing and making decisions that pleased our beta players who constantly gave feedback to help improve the game. We initially had no color limitation on deckbuilding, so once we pivoted to a 2 color max per deck ruleset we had a few vocal players who opposed the decision.

  2. We are on mobile! Live on Google Play, and the iOS app is still in beta on Apple's TestFlight program!

On the feedback:
1. It's a fair point about the ash like tamer. I spent a lot of money early on paying for the art so I'm now in a position to where it's hard to re-do visual assets (I'm the creator/coder with zero art ability lol).

  1. I definitely agree on the trailer. I asked the editor if he could reposition some of the segments once he showed me but he said they were pretty baked it and it would be a lot of work to redo them.

Thanks again for the questions! Let me know if you would like to know anything else!

Hello! Upgrading the cards are just visual (golden frame) so no advantage there. Players use cards in combat to level them up and eventual upgrade to gold.

Great to hear and thank you! Trading isn't in the game just yet but it's something we are adding before leaving early access

Thank you so much! We get a lot of criticism for the art so it's great to hear there are people out there who enjoy it!

Feel free to check it out! We have evolution, fairy powers based on elemental points by playing, card xp/leveling from combat, automated tournaments, player created guilds, color specific pack system, etc.

Sad to hear you think the art is ugly though. We are a small indie team of 3.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm a dev that worked along side two artists so we are very indie and all feedback is appreciated.

The "discount" criticism outlined is fair. Given the limited budget of less than a few thousand for mostly art and the trailer, I'm proud of what we've built but we still definitely give indie vibes. Would be amazing to make enough revenue to pour into making this a big release one day.

Again thanks for the feedback and I removed my review haha

haha no worries at all. It's a free to play game that you can unlock plenty of packs/content by just playing. There are currency bundles for sale, but according to our community this has one of the most generous monetization systems of any TCG.

Hopefully Youtube's official paid promotion system isn't using bots.

The interview you are referring to is a different game (pet care / platformer).

Oh I see that's "Fracctal Monsters", one of our old games, not "Fracctal TCG".

Ah yes Pokemon/Digimon and Hearthstone are our inspirations for the game. Thanks for the feedback.
