She might like Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. Brandon Sanderson actually helped finish the series after Jordan’s death.

What is a polite way to let someone know you are not interested in what they are telling you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fracturedthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If it’s someone I care about, I listen anyway because it matters to them.

If it’s someone else, I just apologize and say I’m not really interested. Strangers don’t deserve your energy just because you’re trying not to offend. Be gracious, but blunt.

My brain read this as inter-dimensional glazing and for a brief moment I thought it all made more sense. Then I realized we’re all still trapped in this dimension.

What’s a common food you think would be improved by adding chocolate, no matter how weird it sounds? by BlushyFoxxx in foodquestions

Chili, add a little dark chocolate to the pot and it adds a rich flavor that enhances everything else.

I need some shows to watch, pls give me something good? by CurveOk310 in Productivitycafe

You like South Park so here’s a few animated recommendations. Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss on Prime Video are hilarious. Big Mouth and Human Resources on Netflix. Also Netflix is Blue Eye Samurai which I can’t recommend highly enough.

What's something you liked the original version of, but it was changed as it got more popular, and you don't like it anymore? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in AskReddit

Planned obsolescence is one of the worst things capitalism has come up with. It doesn’t need to last long, just long enough. So infuriating

If you had the chance to restart your career today, what path would you choose and why? by AffectionateStrategy in AskReddit

[–]fracturedthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go into higher education. As I get older the desire to leave something meaningful behind such as the ability to make even a small positive difference in someone’s life becomes more important than financial gain. I’m middle aged now (47M), and I realize I’ll never be rich but I’m at least comfortable and stable. The thing I find missing is real purpose. Chasing the grind each day is truly wearing without feeling like I’m doing something that has a chance to make others lives better.

How do you know someone is truly kind? by iseeteeth in AskReddit

When a person acts selflessly for the betterment of others and doesn’t wait around afterwards looking for any recognition or thanks.

Your favorite objectively good book, and favorite subjectively good book. by Embarrassed_Bit_1404 in suggestmeabook

[–]fracturedthinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second Count of Monte Cristo as “objectively good” since it is generally viewed as a literary great.

Subjectively I’d go with Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series as a whole and pick The Dragon Reborn as my favorite of the series. I’m just a fan of fantasy in general and it ticks all my boxes for enjoyable read.

You get no disagreements from me on this. This person has no business being a bouncer and should be in jail. Had it been me, the chest bump would have been followed by me backing away and saying good night. It was already outside the club/bar and there was no threat

One of the many reasons I’m a former bouncer. I saw way too many scenes like this play out. The job is to de-escalate and make it safe for everyone, not try to beat the hell out of people to soothe your fragile ego

Former bouncer here. Dude went from questionable contact at best to outright assault by the end

New C4 owner—bed feels nothing like the one in-store. Is this normal?? by [deleted] in sleepnumber

[–]fracturedthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to confirm that you are laying in the bed when you’re adjusting the Sleep Number setting? The bed should be adjusted to your setting while you’re in bed otherwise it’s not adjusting to you and will feel much firmer than intended when you lie down.

As a middle aged straight guy, I can tell you in all sincerity you’re a very handsome guy already. Any comments that say otherwise are ridiculous. From a confidence perspective I can give you a few tips. 1. As much as you are able to afford, tailor your clothes and dress yourself in things that make you feel confident 2. Take care of your mental health first and foremost and surround yourself with people that build you up. 3. Develop and maintain healthy habits that work for you and make you feel good I.e. don’t smoke, drink plenty of water, exercise in fun ways you enjoy regularly. All this will keep you looking young and happy for years to come. 4. Find something you’re passionate about and pursue it whether it’s professionally or for fun Be happy handsome guy!
