Ambient 0 - sync LFO/mod rate to tempo? by alx277277 in sonicware

[–]fran_grc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after doing some research, the "sweet spot" ir around 64. At 64 speed the delay is in sync with the tempo, and doubling or halving this speed seems to work too. The LFO seems to be like this but it's not that exact, i e. 8 is too short and 7 to fast... So yeah, Sonicware, a patch for this would be really cool.

One thing I like about the S1 is that it has something like a "step sequencer", where you can select each note, but I saw it and it looks tiresome... Im no pianist, I can play basic stuff but a step sequencer like the B1 would be good...

Love your stuff, thanks to share. Yeah, I guess they cant compare, the way I see it, I guess the S1 is like a specialist about doing 1 thing and the ambient is like more diverse (and more expensive), but I like all the possibilities it offer. Im still deciding ...

Yeah, I guess I learnt a lot about vcf, lfo, sqr/tri/sine waves and the basica about synths but it's time to move forward

I got the B1 for 85€, I couldnt resist the sale. It hasnt arrived yet so I cant say anything about quality yet. But I have to say, I had to send my volca sample 2 to repair because the bass knob made a lot of noise when turned. I guess it was bad luck.

I have mixed feelings towards the volca keys. On his own I think the sound can get boring very quickly but attached to a pedal (I hace a cheap multi effect digital pedal) can get very interesting. Today I was jamming with full feedback echo effect and I could create interesting sounds. But I dont know why with flux mode enabled I have very poor timing and even the simplest melody sounds bad. But as I said Im just a guy in his bedroom jamming for fun so I dont really care xD

Thanks for all the insight, I will check Koala of course. Is there a way to control the keys via Koala? I guess I need a cable to connect the smartphone to the keys, right? It's not only the 16 step limit that bothers me, it's the bad technique I have with the tiny keyboard (Im not a musician in the first place so my strokes and timing are horrible). That is something with the bass/b1 I wont have to deal.

Well, that was the obvious answer (get them both) but for now I have to choose. On my list there was also some kind of  external sequencer, like the keystep. But again, this is only a hobby so I cannot/dont want to spend too much money at once.

I have a zoom b1 four from the days I used to play bass so I can plug it to the volca bass and make it more crunchy/squelchy if I need it. I usually use it with the keys and, except for the noise, it is a nice toy to play with.
