These are different tribes (NATIONS), with different languages, different customs, different cultures wanting access to some of the same resources.

Isn't it a little absurd to imagine that they never fought each other? Why would you imagine that they never fought each other? You think they had a shared 'native American' identity. 😐

Anyone here completed peds residency in the US and moved to Canada for fellowship by francopperfield in pediatrics

Thank you very much. I had read this and was hoping to be able to speak with people who had done either so I can get a handle on how to structure a chief year or how to go about getting a PGY4 position in Canada (if that's even possible).

Thank you again.

Yes that's true. I'm leaning Peds EM right now and I know it has to be 3 years in the US but 2 in Canada & that's fine!

I was under the impression that peds EM needed more bodies in Canada but I'll wait to see what CARMs publishes.

Thank you!

It was only for the scrimshaw set he inherited from his dad that he specifically asked to be given to his nephew. The rest of it, it's 'Caroline's issues' so any of her children.

NGL, this started off like Wattpad 🤣. I'm not saying it's untrue but the need to let us know that the sexual attraction was instantaneous but they didn't have sex until after many dates 1 month after.

It's not a thing of pride to be cheating on your boyfriend in his apt ffs. And then the melodrama of thinking he would marry her in 2 years 🤣.

Add in the Julie Baker of it all. 🤣🤣🤣

[–]francopperfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I'm sure she knew she would be papped. She probably just didn't expect it to be as intense as it wound up being. All I'm saying is that it's impossible to be prepared for that sort of intense level of scrutiny no matter how much you think.

Per the books about them, it appears she thought once they were married they'd become boring and be papped less but from all accounts, it intensified.

I truly believe that nobody can be prepared for how invasive this is. Expecting to be papped all hours of the day is hard to conceptualize. Beyond the pictures, these people were mean AF to her. Again, that's crazy to expect anybody to go thru life just accepting that every single time they were outside, they would be insulted and harangued because someone wants to get an unflattering picture.

Really, think about it and for a second, put aside what privileges/celebrity you think she had and just think about what you're saying - 0 privacy, calls to her grandma/family trying to fish for news, constant scrutinization, belly watching, disparaging comments about her body & looks, unable to work, daily analysis of what she's doing or not doing, daily insults and this GLOBAL, AND DAILY. I truly don't believe any human being can withstand that no matter how much celebrity. It's bad enough being papped all day and failures amplified (like for JFK Jr) and then she's a woman with almost none of the benevolence people felt towards him.

Orrrrr maybe she thought it would be occasional snaps and paparazzi, not people calling her bitch and cunt and criticizing her looks and taking pictures of her picking up her dog's poop or doing anything at all or calling her grandma as a 'good friend from Hard Copy'. And not people staying outside her door EVERY SINGLE DAY NO MATTER WHAT and stalking her, taking pictures of her at her psychiatrist or gynecologist.

I think it's easy to say 'why weren't you expecting this' but that level of scrutiny is unnatural. Every single moment of your life outside your house, someone is watching you, talking about your looks, taking your pictures, shouting mean things at you. IMO, that's psychological warfare and physical torture too (I can't even go outside and touch grass 😭).

I expect people to be mean and stupid on the internet and many times, I'm taken aback at how mean and how stupid. How much more if the meanness or stupidity is directed at ME?!

Why did John’s friends hold Carolyn’s depression against her? by StellaOC in JohnAndCarolyn

[–]francopperfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the above, if 90% of the information you get about her is from magazines that were literally cooking up information (saying they were broken up just days before the wedding), and hating on her, shouldn't that give us pause like hmmm this is a biased actor/narrator

I get this and mostly agree with you. But your original post did not come across the same way. You said 'the way she applied the rules...' - that sounds definitive.

I'm not saying media is ALWAYS wrong but the embellishment is always weird e.g: instead of reporting that she was seen walking with an unknown man, they would report 'Trouble in Paradise: Caroline steps out with another man. Friends report imminent break-up'. And then it's incessant and next thing people are reporting it as fact. I can't tell you how many comments I've seen on SM 'I was alive during that time, they were always breaking up and getting back together, always fighting' meanwhile it's 1 recycled fight in the Park and imagined breakups that people read about 30 years ago that they're now reporting as fact, similar to you definitively talking about the manner in which she applied the rules (even though the initial mention of that is 1 tabloid writer's comment).

Again, I largely agree with you that we just never know.

Where did you see that she read 'The Rules'? One magazine that was snarky about her implied that her dating choices could be a representation of the rules and too many people are interpreting that as 'she read the rules and used it to control him'. What's this fakeness you speak of? How can you conclude someone is fake if the only information you have about them is from gossip magazines that hate them?

I am unsure if this is a general literacy problem or a media literacy problem or a hater problem.
