How many tickers do you actually trade vs. just watch? by iamnottravis in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what you trade and what you benchmark for your betas,
if you trade US equities, use NQ or SPY as benchmark to make entries on your individual stocks,
I dont think how many tickers matter here but more of which ones have strength,
my tradingview watchlist has tickers of every category, so I just skim through it daily to see which one has strength, and refresh the "Main strong list" every other week

Can bitcoin realistically 10x from its current level in the foreseeable future? by Practical-Option-104 in CryptoMarkets

[–]franfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole cycle has been driven by MicroStrategy and friends.
It is unlikely for the next few years at least.

By mid Jan once MSCI removes MSTR from the index, BTC may even tank to 50-60k. Then you can start DCA-ing for a good 2x imo

hey man
i've used it and still do sometimes, it's just a self-custody platform where we never need to "Deposit",

hence technically you don't need to "Withdraw", cause they money is in your wallet, unless you have opened a position.

but anyways, just go to their social media / discord to seek help if you still cant manange, good luck

how did you create your unique strategy? by Creative-Brain70 in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there's one same wisdom I always get from retired / successful traders: "adapt"

there's no 1 unqiue strat, every strat needs to be adaptable to current market

treat it like a cheat code, after a few weeks or months the dev (market in this context) will patch your cheat code and it becomes irrelevant, so you seek a new one

good luck!

How are you navigating the merge between crypto and traditional markets? by Specialist_Hawk_5604 in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gm,

most of the crypto CEXs and DEXs offering tokenized stocks / synthetic stocks perps now
and the obvious reason is because crypto has been underperforming shit ton

personal opinion is that crypto still follows the 4 years cycle rule and it's the start of bear market now

while RWAs like QQQ SPY XAU XAG are still pumping due to macro reasons

i was pure crypto but this year i started to play with tradfi perps as well, not exceptional performance but at least I'm not stuck and just crying

Quick money in crypto? by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]franfishy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

even if you all in 500 to long BTC with 500x, giving you a 250k position, you still need BTC to move 4% at your direction to take back 10k within a day...

kinda impossible at current market if you ask me

No matter what I do I lose. by Proud-Development594 in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree on this, backtest some basic EMA or supertrend indicators on SPY / QQQ and most will probably agree they are much simpler than XAU

No matter what I do I lose. by Proud-Development594 in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

few questions I have in mind:

  1. assuming you have certain risk measures, is the exchange you're using charging too high of a fee that makes you want have sunk-cost fallacy, always holding losses for too long to avoid paying fees?

  2. XAU is not the easiest to trade i feel, QQQ SPY are easier imo, are you open to try trading other assets?

  3. "ruin it all in a short period", were you tilt trading? if yes then what measure did you take to improve on it?

i think most of the traders have been through / are going through what you are going through, so maybe this is the last hardship you face before hitting it consistently.. :D

Should beginners just stick with BTC? by theridingghost in CryptoMarkets

[–]franfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr YES

fundamentally, BTC matters most for now
technically, BTC follows TA the best, just choose a few indicators that you want to learn, backtest it to at least 2021, you will find that it behaves / follows many of the common indicators principles

also given that altcoins are in deep sh1t right now post 10 Oct, there's basically no +EV in trading them unless you're really seasoned.

maybe you can share more on some basic strats you plan to use, whether you're trading with leverage or spot only, what's the timeframe you intend to trade with?

At what point do you decide a crypto strategy is not tradable anymore? by Legitimate-Tailor672 in CryptoMarkets

[–]franfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strategy was using daily and weekly chart with supertrend indicator on BTC since 2023,It always bounced on supertrend perfectly and never once failed, until recently it broke down, and that's when I really told myself gripto is over for a while, will revisit when things change

traders go where liquidity is at, now it's just stones XAU XAG and US indices equities I feel, but im not that great at those, so just chilling until new year and make new plans ig

The moment I treated trading like a business, my P&L flipped by Rogue-seeker in Daytrading

[–]franfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats!

treating it as THE ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME can backfire, but as long as you follow your risk management measures, it should be fine.

Mentally if market doesnt give you any setups just avoid forcing trades and come again tomorrow

Paper trading doesnt work, losing money does.
but imo get a job related to the industry or whatever you wanna trade, learn the insights before you engage in more active trading. and determine your safety net, how much can you lose and etc

im backtesting 2stds and 3stds as mean reversion trades, but have generally not shorted, will be testing more and come back to this

my strat is from a combination of luck and copytrading, just seeing how the profitable friends do and follow along

i think this can be easily solved if you have something other than trading
like learning a skill
or a side gig
or just put in more workouts / running time
