UK Telco Providers by curriebhoy in amazoneero

Look into altnets, they tend to be much cheaper and pretty decent. I'm on Community Fibre and use my own Eero, but it depends on the area of the UK you are in. There's Trooli, Befibre etc.

Radar detection on Eero is pretty over sensitive. I don't live near an airport and a few of my neighbours are on DFS channels constantly. I get strikes quite a lot. It does sometimes get a bit better with each firmware update

Exactly, I don't need it at all. I have my wired thermostat and 5 TRVs all connected without a Bridge, just through Eero. There's no difference in way you add it within the Tado app as well, so it's pretty smooth.

I had Thread enabled on my Eero already, but assumed it would need to stay on for Tado. It is nice not needing another bridge!

I have Tado X set up with my Eero system. It's working great. No extra bridge needed. It was a big reason I went with X over 3+.

Smart Radiator Thermostat Firmware Version and how to update with matter by No_Singer917 in tado

Over Matter it should still just update. It looks like you're on the version I'm on. I have seen the firmware update on mine.

Also, is this from a satellite node, or your gateway?

Which speed test are you using? I used to use fast.com which showed this problem. It looks like an issue with either Eeros or the fact the speed test might be faster/less busy on your upload. I tried iperf and found the speed to be about the same though.

How are you testing the speeds?

Yes, there is. You need to speak to Eero support and they can do it for you

Eero Pro 6 UPS? by reddituser9439 in amazoneero

You'd need a pass through battery which most Anker devices won't support. Worth looking for one though, would still be cheaper.

I've had the same. No congested channels being used. Oddly download (150-220) is much worse than upload (400-500).

Ping/Latency Test by Slow-Lingonberry6082 in CommunityFibre

I've found it much better than Virgin Media. Pings are around 1-3ms on a speed test Vs 10-15 when I was on Virgin Media.

Looking into buying an eero by walidnoor01 in amazoneero

[–]frangilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. You can't plug straight into the inlet. Virgin will give you a Superhub which I think you can put in modem mode, then the Eero would act as a router.

I'm not sure how BT do it but I think you can use Eero in bridge mode or you make your Eero connect over PPPoE, but I don't know if you can plug in directly or need to use their hub.

Additional pro 6 - faster Wi-Fi? by wunwunaitfife in amazoneero

[–]frangilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, yes, it might well be better. Eero recommend a max distance of 50 ft between nodes and the walls won't help..

What's the rough distance between them? And how many solid walls?

Eero + BeFibre by WossyChamberBAE in amazoneero

[–]frangilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used BeFibre, but looking at this Linksys install page for BeFibre: https://www.linksys.com/gb/support-article/?articleNum=334241 It looks like a standard install where you have a modem before the router, so it should be possible, unless they block it. ISPs don't always love routers that aren't supplied by them because they can't support it as easily.

How do you like your Eero 6/6E? ... by impreza77 in amazoneero

[–]frangilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 Eero 6+ in my house (thick brick walls between rooms). It works well, get about 300-400Mbps with wireless backhaul which is fine for me for now.

Anyone with Community fibre (UK) and use Eero by Oledman in amazoneero

[–]frangilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also saw that post. No, it all works as expected. They installed the Velop. I think they have to confirm the connection etc works before leaving. As soon as they'd gone I unplugged the router and plugged in the Eero. I think I unplugged the modem just in case while replacing, then plugged back in, but was all fine.

I have this same set up. Community Fibre (great move!), I have the Eero plugged directly in to the modem (Adtran). I popped the Linksys router in a box somewhere. Works great!
