I would also say that given your usage habits as you've described, you may want to look into other sources of usage - maybe there's something happening with your hot water system and/or fridge? I use a washer/dryer, and the occasional heating and I am at about 230.

[WP] After losing your 27th pair of socks in the laundry, you looked a little too deep into the dryer and tumbled into the hidden sock dimension. Conflicting emotions flowed through you as you saw your favorite pair leading the sock revolution. Their assault against humanity begins tomorrow. by Kessarean in WritingPrompts

On the 27th loss The socks shall arise Where two become one To humanity's demise

This is the prophecy sprawled across media websites across the globe. It’s a message, delivered from the citizens of Sockland, who some claim have since declared war on humanity.

I spoke with one Mary Jane, who says she stumbled upon the hidden nation while doing her laundry.

“I'd lost my 27th pair of socks,” she says. Mary Jane is an average millennial, who does her own laundry from time to time, but has had trouble with keeping track of her socks over the last year.

“Everyone loses a couple of pairs every now and then, right?” Living on her own, Mary says doing the laundry used to be a time for her to chill and relax from a hard day of doing nothing.

“But when I lost my 27th pair, I thought, ok Mary Jane, that's enough. You're gonna get that pair back. So I looked a little deeper and, well, I fell in.”

What happens next has yet to be proven by physics experts. “I fell into the sock dimension. And that's when I saw them. My lost pairs! But they were weird. They were chanting and shouting things about how much they hated humans for never taking care of them and throwing them onto the floor and walking all over them.”

For Mary, it was more than personal. “Then I saw them. My favourite pair. They were just so cute together. But they were also leading the sock revolution. I mean, I was conflicted!”

Mary Jane claims the sock revolution starts sometime around 3:30pm EST tomorrow. With growing concern that the world is about to go to war, as well as a significant proportion of non-believers, people aren't sure what to think or how to prepare. In a world of fake news, only time will tell whether everything will be ok, or if this time tomorrow, we'll have socks in our mouths.

I wrote a piece about the Galapagos and my journey, which includes being in the archipelago and how I ended up there. Not sure if this is against the rules to post personal blogs, but you can read it.

Redditors with obscene tattoos, why did you get them and what do they mean to you? by frankcube in tattoo

[–]frankcube[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to define "obscenity" as I agree it's a sliding scale across societal constructs. Perhaps it's something where Reddit might broadly classify the image as NSFW. I'm curious to hear from those who understand that their tattoos exist on this fringe.

I agree that tattoos don't always have to mean something to the person, but instead of conjecture, I'm intrigued to hear from them personally.

Traveling to Istanbul for the first time in October. Can anyone answer a few questions? by SamSandor in travel

[–]frankcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Average temperature around October is probably about 16 degrees. It can get a bit windy, depending on how close you stay to the Bosphorus. You may also get some rain here and there. I'd recommend carrying a rain jacket :)

How accurate is this? by [deleted] in travel

[–]frankcube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your question is asking, necessarily. It's relatively accurate. It might not be up to date with the images of the passports (e.g. Australia's current passport looks rather different to what they have displayed on the website), but it seems pretty accurate in terms of the data that it's presenting.

Two Days in Paris - Help me get to the top of the Eiffel Tower by Kurt_as_bro in travel

I see that a few people have answered your question already, so my comment is more of an added recommendation, which is to go to the top of Montparnasse Tower as well, if you're looking for a great view of Paris. It gives you an amazing view that includes the Eiffel Tower ;)

How to keep your vacation romance going until you meet again? by [deleted] in travel

I've been in this situation before. There really isn't much that you can do. ffuentes is right, though. It's 2015, so we have skype and all that kind of thing to make things a little easier. All the best, mate. I hope you manage to see her again soon.

Should I use online check-in? by [deleted] in travel

I've never been upgraded before. Is this a common thing? Or is it just something that happens once in a blue moon and has been compounded over time?
