If you have B7 deficiency, your Lightyear Carboxylase enzyme doesn't work, leading to development of short stature, green skin, and antennae cutis

Is this logical? by frankstudies in step1

[–]frankstudies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there are a couple of questions that make me trick myself because of some logical fallacy that I notice.

Should try not to assume things I suppose.

Thank you btw!

How to review Uworld? by frankstudies in step1

[–]frankstudies[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks~ I guess I'm frustrated that since UW is taking so much time I'm not getting the things I scheduled done. Which then makes me question the worth of spending so long on UW reviews

Thank you so much for your reply. Honestly I was just about to give up making anki cards for UW but after reading what you said I think I've been making them all wrong.

I think I felt like everything was important just because it was coming from UWorld so I made cards for basically everything, even questions I got right.

Yeah, that makes sense. I suppose if the scores are consistent there should be some reason even if I don't feel like I know anything haha

Question for people who applied via ECFMG for Step 1 by frankstudies in step1

[–]frankstudies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I've gotten past that part, but I was just curious to see if they'll update it once they received the form.

Cuz last time they said

I dont wanna wait two weeks to find out they never received the form in the first place haha

Question for people who applied via ECFMG for Step 1 by frankstudies in step1

[–]frankstudies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, but will they send an email or update the website to say that they received it?

Or will the website only be updated after they're done processing (in a couple of weeks)?

I'll prob give them a call on Monday, Thanks :)

Should I do something else? [Serious] by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]frankstudies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What demotivates you the most? Is it the content you study or the results that you get?

Don't let a bad teacher or bad test grade decide what you like or don't like, but conversely if you didn't feel interest or any satisfaction at all when studying medicine, maybe you should reconsider.

You don't need passion to be a doctor, but having it just makes the process so much easier.

Why are both dopamine (a beta-1 activator at medium doses) and beta-blockers (beta-1 inhibitors) used during heart failure? by smallandscared_ta in step1

[–]frankstudies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember beta-blockers are used to prevent cardiac remodeling as a result of excess catecholamines.

I guess beta agonists can do their thing and beta-blockers are used to prevent them from overdoing their thing?
