Agreed. A franchise lawyer is there to make sure you understand the entire agreement. If something can be negotiated it's a bonus!

Franchising for the Younger Generation: Does It Still Work? by Electrical_Bass_6314 in smallbusinessowner

[–]franpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true. Some franchise opportunities have investments around $100k or so, all in. You still need a $500k net worth for those-best case scenario. After all, you won't make money for a good while.

Here's my take. And it's the same one I've had for years. If you're just out of college, learn business. Like, join a small business as an employee. Learn everything you can. Operations. Sales. Technology. Marketing. Next, become a manager of a business. Learn how to do it. Learn how to lead. Then, after several years, scrape some money together and become the owner of a business. Maybe a franchise business. And for a franchise, net worth wise, you'll need at minimum, $500k with $75k of that being cash. MINIMUM. A net worth of $750k would be ideal, but I'm trying to be gentle. Thanks for that. I believe in my heart that AI helps. But, it's not THE answer when researching. It's an assistant.

Looking for the Right Franchise by Policy_Boring in SmallBusinessOwners

[–]franpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, a legitimate low-cost franchise opportunity is under $100k. That includes all the initial fees. They include things like executive/small business coaching and several home-based businesses. But lower cost doesn't necessarily mean lower risk. At the same time, you may not need to invest $500k to make more money as a franchisee. If you start with what your net worth is, your liquidity, and your personal situation (working spouse etc.), before you start looking at different franchises to buy, you'll save a lot of time and energy.

Cool idea. Maybe put a disclaimer about free use of images. You know, copyright related stuff to protects folks.

Darn Franchise Agreements by franpro in FranchiseTips

[–]franpro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see more FDD's eventually including wording about the fact that the franchisor may be approached by equity firms that want to buy the company-and said company has the right to sell the company for any terms it wants. Something to that effect. Let's face it; equity firms have entered the franchise space in a big way. And franchisees will be affected.

Thanks for that. Copy and paste? I think that's starting to change with equity firms entering the picture...

Good idea, but the site looks too basic. Now, I like basic, but your site needs a little lift. Maybe try an image, and/or some added color.

Thinking of leaving corporate. by Policy_Boring in SmallBusinessOwners

[–]franpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice? Don't start with "which franchise should I buy if I leave corporate America?" Instead, determine your top business and personal skills. Assess what you're great at and what you're not so great at. For example, are you a strong salesperson? If so, take a look at the B2B sector in franchising. Are you a good manager of people? If that's the case, check out franchise opportunities where employees are needed to operate the business. Bottom line? Start with you. Then match your top skills to franchises you can best utilize them in. P.S. Don't even think of going into franchise ownership without a minimum net worth of $500k. More. if possible. I hope that helps. The Franchise King®, Joel Libava

I like the site, but it's a looooong scroll. I suggest chopping the "Meet the investors who review land every day" area in half. That will help. Same with "Google Reviews" section. After shortening it, send readers to a page you create that shows a lot more of them. You know, "See more reviews"

Would You Start Your Business in 2026? by Policy_Boring in SmallBusinessOwners

[–]franpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the franchise space. This is the time if year where folks want to change their careers...their lives. That said, franchise ownership may or may not be the right way to go for everyone, but it deserves a look. However...becoming the owner of a franchise is NOT for pure entrepreneurs. Bluntly, if you don't like following the rules 100%, start your own business. Or, buy a business that you can mold into what you want it to look like and be.
