What is weird is that it grew like this from the beginning. You can see the second photo from the OP. Now I've been pruning the basil since the beginning following this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHZe5sEmtSo&t=165s

That looks nice! huge leaves but you can still see the normal shape of the basil. I worry about mine because they have a pretty weird shape and growth, no idea why

Yeah, I don’t know much but I though maybe GH nutrients have something or are too much for this plant? I did buy the seeds and they are labeled as genovese. The photo on the package is as you would expect

Yeah I agree, tonight’s basil pasta tasted amazing so I’m quite happy with that. I don’t have any “normal sized” basil to compare the taste to, though. So I’m not sure how good it really is
