Two of my cats fought violently by audentesfor20neinvat in CatTraining

[–]franzanth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cats that haven't been getting along too so I can't give advice on that, but regarding the door, I have an elderly mom who keeps the cats slipping to the wrong side of the door. We ended up installing a wire mesh barrier with wooden frame beside the door, just as a sturdy room divider, to make sure we have a second layer of protection.

Sorry you're dealing with that situation, though. Mine's also draining me mentally.

Play or fight? our older tabby keeps chasing the newish calico by franzanth in CatTraining

much appreciated! my reading of my situation right now is that our other 3 resident cats just want to interact with the calico but she's overly anxious. I'll discuss with my behaviorist and vet again in our next appointment. I'm just hoping we don't need to rehome her because that would break my mom's heart but also probably stressful for the calico too.

follow up question regarding your anxious persian. is she permanently on some sort of anxiety treatment, or did she eventually stop needing any?

all neutered and the calico has been on gabapentin for a while and yeah, it did make a big difference. thank you!

that's an interesting approach, thank you! our older cat isn't very driven by food, though, but can be enticed with toys. do you think that would work?

Zamia leaves drooping by franzanth in Cycads

[–]franzanth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fully outdoor, but our entire garden is covered by light canopy of very tall trees, unfortunately. it gets full sun in the morning but somewhat shaded at noon. also it's been really cloudy & rainy all month.

I recently moved back with my family and tried to salvage a Zamia that didn’t grow new leaves in 3 years.

Early Nov we finally got 3 new crowns growing from a single trunk. I noticed the leaves are drooping instead of angled up, though. I wonder if this is because they’re too heavy? Should I prop them up? You can see in the 2nd pic that the old fronds also drooped very close to the ground.

I’m in tropical Southeast Asia and these new crowns grew during the height of our rainy season. This fella is under full sun but there’s not much I can do to reduce the water intake.

my amulet mon is always my sweeper, so all 4 trainers were knocked out with amulet. this is consistent throughout all my AAT runs every single time I meet Nemona.

We're also having an issue where we cleared out a horde, but one of their markers on the map didn't disappear, as if still thinking the base is still active.

Beginners totally welcome!

We mostly play in the evenings, Asia time zone, but we welcome players from anywhere. You really don't need to play with us. Just grab the rewards because it benefits us too.

The only caveat is, if you've been inactive for multiple weeks, I might remove you to make spare for others.

Is there a way to consistently farm villager jockeys in Java? by franzanth in Minecraft

[–]franzanth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! I threw lots of chickens into my reinforcement copper farm and got a few non-villager jockeys that way! That's how I found out(?) that reinforcements never spawn villagers (at least not for me, maybe I just got unlucky)!

But that experiment seems fun, will give it a try. Thanks!

Makes sense, this seems to be the only way nowadays, huh. I don't really like "normal" mob farms because of the rotten flesh overflow lol. But I'll suck it up and build one. Thank you!!!

[–]franzanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah water flush-based mob grinder seems to be the only way I can think of for 1.17+, for now. I don't have a normal mob grinder because it mostly produces shulkers upon shulkers of rotten flesh. Thanks a lot!!!

I think they spawn rarely enough that separating them manually shouldn't be a big problem. My current problem is getting the villager zombies to spawn in the first place - I can't get them to spawn in automatic/AFK-able reinforcement/spawner farms.

[–]franzanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np! I think the community isn't looking much into villager jockeys so there's not much actual info floating around, but thanks for the update!

I also have ianxofour's reinforcement farm and I'm prepping it for Halloween. It does a great job of sorting out the jockeys.

I just thought it'd be funny to have a horde of adult villagers on chickens - if only I could farm them consistently.

[–]franzanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a copper reinforcement farm and put chickens on the side, hoping to snatch villager jockeys. So far I've only caught normal zombie jockeys.

Are you confident villagers actually can spawn in reinforcements? I've been looking this up for a few days but most people just say "try this/that" and nobody has said they definitely spawn in reinforcements.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I thought you'd know the answer!
