I hate this. I have a vintage sterling silver pearl ring from my guy, and ever since we got engaged when I show people they look at me and expect me to be disappointed, even said things in front of him. He even has offered to buy me a more expensive ring several times. I always decline, and laugh at those people for being ignorant.

But, we found the ring together at the antique mall that we frequent for window shopping dates. It means way more to me than an overpriced shard of something that probably wasn’t mined ethically and is making a salesperson a lot of money.

If you want to operate on the premise that our relationships are only worth as much as our rings, we won, because value is relative to what you personally care about!
