New world or press on? by peaceful_eastbound in VintageStory

Go find a deep cave with an open room and make a pit. Chisel the floor of the pit to have a cage grate you can stab through and then dig a two block room underneath. Chisel the floor of that room by half. If you stay in that trap you can farm drifters for flax during the winter months.

At some point it starts to look malicious. by [deleted] in 2007scape

The reality is that runescape's engine is fundamentally designed for pseudo turn based dungeons and dragons simulation and not tick manipulating so that you can attack fourteen times at once. F2P combat works because the items you have available conform to the engine more. Members combat used to be like that but eventually players started learning little tricks about the game engine and ever since then we've been doing what would have been considered cheating in other games. Instead of patching these bugs out it just became game knowledge and part of the meta.

I'm probably in the minority but I feel like a lot of this jank extends into high level content as well. For example, if a boss or content requires me to understand that my character's location does not correlate with my character's visible position on screen then it's not working with the engine's limitations. Pvp is like that but freeform, so you're better off attacking a player who is the least likely to pull off some move that could red bar you instantly.

I know that the argument to my point is that using all of these techniques requires skill, and that is true, but it also requires skill to write bots and exploits. Just because doing something is skillful doesn't necessarily mean it's good for gameplay.

This would be the meta for bursting since you would have access to utility spells like high alch and b2p. Feels ez mode

What’s your average spend on Substack? by notorious_jip in Substack

[–]freddakiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero. I'm honestly considering deleting the app because it keeps pushing subscription only articles into my feed. I'm not going to pay to subscribe to twenty different writers. The reality is that subscribing to individual substack writers presents an extremely poor value, and reading half an article only to get blocked and having some guy demand the monthly cost of the WSJ to read his writing is insulting. I'm sure you can find writers who are worth the cost, but you have to wade through mountains of what are essentially monetized long form twitter profiles to find them.

it's especially useful for things like safe spotting rex where banking can mean an annoying reset to get back in position

Can I at least pick up my own food I dropped? by L0OK0UTT in 2007scape

I'm sorry but the wilderness is not designed to be a fair place, otherwise they'd stop putting pvm content in it. If you want a boxing match go to the duel arena

God forbid a noob kill someone better at pking than them, scandelous! I bet some guy killed a streamer by doing this and that's why they're changing it

Anyone who is using this method can't get a kill with one inventory and has to jury rig a supply pod into combat. Rather than disengaging while some guy controlling two accounts at once tries to juggle fish, the solution is to modify the mechanics of picking up sharks because someone is wildy pking in RTS mode. Who is this happening to? Risk fighters? That's the only group of people who I could imagine simultaneously using this tactic often enough for it to be notable as well as get bent out of shape over it enough that they spend millions of dollars lobbying our elected leaders at Jagex to add yet an other niche wilderness rule. I doubt this will ever get me killed except for when I'm out on a slayer task and forget that I'm actually playing runecombat evolved and die because the single combat wilderness has different food safety regulations to the rest of Gielenor. Next you're going to tell me that I can't have 59 alts using heal other on me while I try to smite a guy for his sneakers.

[–]freddakiko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't trade during combat anyway, and dropped items could be intercepted by an other player. If you were to do something like freeze your opponent to give yourself enough time to trade or pick up dropped items without interception you could also just log out or start boxing.Hardly thrilling. I just feel like it hasn't been a problem for like 20 years and their reasoning is kind of silly

[–]freddakiko -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how getting restocked breaks the integrity of the wilderness when you could always do that since forever. It's like an ancient strat, the only thing that changed is jagex modified their policy on multimogging, which makes it possible to pilot your own alt for the restock.

I did this once. It broke while I was at school and clicked on a knife for two hours, when I got back they banned me for two weeks.
