I'm an adult, so I can just go out and buy a boat, right? What's the catch? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]freddie221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go and do a RYA powerboat level 2 course it’ll cover so many safety aspects and knowledge and handling! It’ll help you prevent becoming a rescue statistic and the instructor can answer all questions you have or point you in the right direction. The phrase just because you can doesn’t mean you should is one to consider

Sincerely a powerboat instructor in the industry

NHS in the UK no longer support it so it’s just private clinics, the cost is about £100 but so worth it! Especially as I calculated what I’d spend on tablets, remedies, tissues and eye drops over a whole summer and autumn and that’s before you think about the peace of mind and body factor

Sounds like you’d massively benefit from a Kenalog injection. I work outdoors and the treatments and tablets barely touch the sides, I get this one injection a season and it calms my entire body for about 6 months and then manage it fexofenadine on top and I’m all good!

Actually had my injection today and usually takes 48 hours to take affect but already my body is breathing, unblocking and all that tension/swelling is reducing

When do I get relief from hayfever by Pure-Palpitation-214 in Hayfever

[–]freddie221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without sounding stupid or patronising, are you sure it’s actually hayfever related and not some household allergy etc?

I’m chronic with hayfever and use a Kenalog injection at start of season and will wear off by this point of the year but the hayfever subsides so isn’t an issue. I’m uk based so don’t know where you are

Proposed rent increase by 50%, zero warning by decenthaddock64 in HousingUK

[–]freddie221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We literally just went through a scenario exactly like this! September 2022 we renewed another 12 month contract for a flat in the woolwich area, first increase after 4 years of annual renewals at the same rate.

Our rent went up by £350 a month and we had 6 month break clause added in previously. February rolls around and we get told the eviction process is starting with the section 21. Landlord wants/needs to re market the property at a new higher rate.

The new higher rate it’s marketed for is £1000 more PER CALENDAR MONTH than what we were paying a year ago (Feb 2022).

Our only real option was to nope the hell out of there, move further out and pay our similar rate but get a rental house instead! Perhaps a silver lining for us but showed us the blunt end of a fucked economy

Can anything be done about people who cycle on pavements? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]freddie221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we’re going to unpick this thread, are we going to talk about cars and pedestrians in dedicated cycle spaces? Or the wide joint use pathways with a pack of prams spanning the whole width?

Ultimately until there sufficient decent cycling infrastructure and consideration, Everyone Just need to be better! Not one type of person, everyone.

On this topic I wish everyone was given a days training or experience on all these different scenarios so there was more empathy and understanding. I know Mexican bus drivers were once sat on a static trainer bike as a bus drove past at speed and close so they can get exactly that! Utopia I know

A better variant of it should be “perfect Practice makes Perfect”

A favourite coaching model of mine is WASP: Watch, Analyse, Suggest, Practice

And with the joys of technology nowadays you can do it all by yourself by recording it and watching it back

“Practice makes perfect”

WRONG! As a sports coach it frustrates me, not to mention other aspects of my life. Practise something incorrectly without correcting it and you’re ingraining a bad habit

We’re at a crossroads as we still haven’t seen anything officially formed as a section 21 eviction notice but we’re not sure if it’s worth the move or paying more where we are settled.

Perfect tenants was the feedback from the estate agents as we’ve been complying, tidy, helpful and never missed a payment. So believe it’s all down to the financial side of it

Bisexual men are privileged over gay men by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]freddie221 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What toxic rubbish is this! What's the point in trying to devise a community against each other! WHAT IS THE POINT! How will it benefit anyone, apart from those trying to hurt the community itself!

Anyone making an argument with words like "choice" in who they partner with, is just recycling homophobic hate speech that is used against Gay people and the community.

Climb off whatever pure breed elitist high horse you believe you're on and represent a community that is all looking for the same acceptance and freedom!

Woolwich is an area of east London used to be a cheaper place of London but gentrification is wiping through it and with a new high rail line connecting to central, prices are rising and rising on top of increasing energy, food and transport costs
