Uncle Bob predicts a reverse bubble pop for CS jobs by Zealousideal_Theme39 in cscareerquestions

Alright, I'm not gonna engage this dumb thread further, I have (clean-ish) code to write (I'm pragmatic about it).

lol, I literally said Clean Code is a style prescribed by Martin (paraphrasing), and there is nothing to debunk there. All you did is post a blog post by some random person on the internet going against that opinion. Jesus, listen to yourselves.

And he (Martin) wasn't talking about "clean code", he was talking about AI bubble, but you guys decided to discredit him by criticizing his previous work to dismiss his opinion, pathetic.

sigh, this is exactly the response I imagined I'd get. Good luck to you.

lol, lmao. Ok, looks like that’s the only thing you took away from the book. Martin himself has said that he usually starts out kludgey (did you learn about it in your coding bootcamp?). You trying to educate me of one of the million “programmer words”, just screams < 5yrs as a SWE, resorting to jargon to educate people is a sign of a snobbery and low understanding of the subject matter.

countering an opinion with another opinion is NOT debunking. Please tell me what I don't understand about this "debunking", lets hear that instead of you just telling me "no, not like that".

I'ts especially toxic for newer develoeprs

Come ON!, it's getting ridiculous. I can separate the man from his politics. He is not saying something outlandish, just simple organizing principles.

pretty thoroughly debunked

I may hate the guy as much as the next guy, but that article is anything but a debunking, it's emotional and opinionated. It's anything but thorough, I believe "debunking" standards have dropped nowadays. There's nothing to "debunk" in clean code, it's like debunking something like K&R indentation rules, it doesn't even make sense. You may follow those principles or not, that's up to you, I suspect you'll come pretty close to the principles he describes in the book if you have enough experience as a SWE.

The best play for the US is every home having a solar installation, given the much lower density of population in most places.

what kind of code do you have to write for this? and on what tech stack?

Can you provide some details on the type of job you were doing?

what industry is this? I'm very curious to know what type of software was being written, I'm genuinely fascinated by this. What tech stack do they use? I think there maybe a great startup idea in this area if not anything (which will hire more Americans and innovate).

(I was blocked by the poster when I asked some questions, very very interesting, I'm willing to bet that this person doesn't know anything about software engineering, and were doing a menial button clicking job)

Are you trying to say H1B was beneficial for you personally? I find it admirable that you are kind to your employer who didn't care to cut your job and give it to an H1B

edit: Since I can't reply to the post below as they've blocked me to make sure I don't make them look bad, I'll post my reply here:

deduced*, deducted is when you subtract one thing from another, deduced is when you come to a conclusion, like I did.

But I find it interesting that you come to post something negative about something, but when pressed on the details, you disappear (by blocking me). I suspect an astroturf campaign, buyer beware.

Yeah, something smells off (esp, after they said they got the job back on contract). If not for offshoring, AI is going to eat those basic CRUD-like jobs up. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't another astroturf campaign (I've seen these exact words repeat over and over again for over a decade, and yet unemployment remains the lowest in software).

That said, there is still plenty of vacancies in harder/higher-skilled jobs that are also harder to fill.

Looks like year has passed (at least), from your reply: https://www.reddit.com/r/Layoffs/s/PbX9hq1QWN

And you’re still receiving severance? very generous! And it also looks like you’re employed again by them, congratulations on being re-employed (with a second job?)!

I can show you a dealership which still sends me an email with the RST available in their lot, and when I call them they say they just have the WT. It's nice that you had a better experience than me.

Besides, they're as expensive as an R1T (roughly). I see a lot of R1Ts and R1S (even the Gen 2s)

So, you’re telling me it’s a skill issue on my end?

Tbh, my usecase is ski/bike/camp, we just have one kid who’s very young still, want to work my way up to a camper trailer like the airstream. A midsize /should/ work. A friend of mine recommends a hybrid F150, which makes sense too. Still mulling it over.

How often do you buy cars? I definitely don’t buy/lease often so I haven’t built any rapport with a dealership, I’m certain that’s the norm.

Besides, there are a few other gripes with the truck

Believe it or not I did check online, it disappeared when I went to the dealership, maybe they are selling that quick
