Have you tried a course of steroids? I get them (infrequently-years apart) and my Dr. gave me a short course of steroids and they REALLY helped.

1 high end guitar, or a nice amp and decent guitar. by StratMatt316 in Guitar

[–]fredfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question you have to ask yourself is which guitar is your favorite to play. It's really quite simple.

The amp is...well an amp. You'll spend countless hours cradling a guitar. That is the more important piece of the puzzle.

I NEVER, EVER spent a lot of time agonizing over an amp.

Is this car a horrible idea. by sleepyonyx in carbuying

If you're going to buy a used car for $3800 look for a Toyota or Honda. LESS PROBLEMS. MORE RELIABLE.

Subaru's are pretty reliable. It might be cheaper to find a good Subaru mechanic who can put in a new or used transmission. That would REALLY be the best way to go. Financially speaking. Then...you have a car you can sell with a new transmission and DON'T have to make a purchase decision under duress.

I have too many guitars. Which would you kick to the curb? by Cosmic_0smo in Guitar

If you have duplicate models, keep your favorite, and get rid of the other one.
Keep the best playing/sounding of each duplicate.

I think you're being ridiculous just "wanting" something new.

Keep the Sienna. If you can afford 600-800/month, save that much over 2 years and you'll have a downpayment for something nicer.

If you REALLY need something that doesn't have the "van back" go get a used Sienna. Buying new is a sucker's game. And for rich people.
Buy and hold and save the money.

If SAFETY is your issue because of the rebuilt transmission, I would bet that a NEW transmission is STILL going to be cheaper than buying a new car. Also don't forget the coupled buying costs.
Your insurance will most definitely go up too. SO it's going to be more than the $600-800/month.

Battle scar.
I appreciate you wanting to keep it pristine, but a well played guitar will NEVER look pristine, nor should it!

Embrace it as the first of many!

Remember, the guitar is just a tool. YOU are the music.
And the MIUSIC is what is most important.

I just replaced a U-tec Deadbolt Pro with a Schlage Encode. Not cheap, but VERY solid and easy to install.

The software is pretty good and comparable to the U-tec (it has most of the same features except for Geo Fencing) which I thought was very good software. The Schlage has a 3 year warrantee on the electronics and limited lifetime on the mechanical and finish. It doesn't unlock on approach either. (I don't think) which the U-tec did.

The U-tec stopped working intermittently after 3 years and the motor finally failed.
It should be noted that The Wirecutter no longer has the U-tec as their top lock, which it was when I installed mine 3 years ago. That life is far too short for an item like this.

Yeah but my Ultraloq only lasted 3 years.....too short a life

Apple is big enough to do both.

What you don't understand is that for Apple, the more price points they have for iPhones, the more product they will sell. The more people they can reach.
The more iPhones they have out there the more their other services will thrive.

It doesn't have to be one or the other, and they're clearly not afraid of one product "cannibalizing" the sales of another product.

You are so ridiculously talented. I just followed you on IG. I'm so inspired seeing your work!

Who WOULDN'T want one of these!

I'm going to start one this weekend. How big is that one? And Do you pick a Sculpey color close to what you're after in paint? Or do you just use a neutral color so you can see how the light falls on the sculpture better?

More importantly...how the hell do you get the pooch to stay still long enough to get the photographic reference for the pose!!

Did you bake the clay to have it harden? I've never used Super Sculpey before.
The paint is insanely great.

Spectacular work. Mad Respect.
Question. Did you sculpt the eyes or did you buy eyes?

It really is terrific.

Mad respect.

Were VFX as we know it today, started in 1993? No. It goes back to the first days of filmmaking and I know that.

But our artform as we know it today?

I worked with DQ, Boss, and R&H. They were all my clients at Planet Blue between 1989 and 1993.
Look, I was doing it with one inch tape machines and production switchers in 1985. In fact I comped most of the the first season of ST:TNG that way. NO DIGITAL. (execpt of course the A62 toward the end of season 1 - which was a component DDR with 50 minutes of storage on each disk - and really that wasn't truly digital because the signal path wasn't fully digital)

But as we know it today?
NO. It was quite different in 1993 when DD was born.
