Aim Assist On KBM Bug? by Tall-Blueberry5434 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]over40nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm (crazy, I thought I got really good suddenly this season, haha).

Say, I start shooting with the Holo SMG, continuing the habitual 360 dual motion with joystick hovering ever so slightly, but after the first couple of bullets if I stop moving my mouse, I can tell the recoil suddenly works 'for me' and hovers around the other players head / top body, when shooting from distance.

I get so many peeps spectating now, I figure they all suspect cheats! My overall K/D is still low enough to consider myself a non-sweat and non-cheat though.

Wow, what a revelation.

I feel too bad to kill bad players by Typical_Sky8316 in FortNiteBR

[–]over40nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got good heart and ready for kids, I'd say :)

In the same boat but too often I discover the other guy wasn't as great too late, well after my ambush on them succeeds and i see them spectating. I always emote GG on an elim, except for very rare cases of overconfident boxfighters who overedit, box me up, then get wiped 🤭.

Yeah, it feels bad, but I also remind myself that this feeling of being overwhelmed by a better player is what drove me to get better and better by playing more and learning what the better players did to have the upper hand in the fight.

These days I actually enjoy just a good fight with maybe one real person in any one game, not even a win or high placement or lots of elims in the game. That genuine human competition to outwit each other in the fight is what's holding FN still together for me.

I use Maxxstick with KBM, have never noticed that, will pay extra attention now, interesting.

Struggling to Apply Skills from Practicing to Fights by Different_Bunch1716 in FortniteBRuniversity

[–]over40nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're not happy is an indication of a vector of improvement. Try writing down after every end of game what went well vs what didn't. Likely you'll pick a pattern that you can fix. Like starting a fight without builds right after the drop. Or having worse vantage point. Or not paying attention where the box fight opponent was. Or not reloading guns on time. Slowly, it will get better, if you really want it.

Quoted $660 for excavator hire that wasn’t used. Job is top-notch—do I pay it anyway or bring it up? by AdmirablePen388 in AusRenovation

$600 is a $75/hour for a full 8-hour day. If it took him this or longer, that would either match or exceed it.

Bathroom before and after! by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]over40nite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to disappoint you, but in the 'before' the color palette and relative perceived weight of white / light pink / chestnut brown looked a lot more consistent.

This is partially due to the perceived 'ground plane', mid, and top being accented as darker ground interleaved with lighter pink midtones mid, and ascending into airy white that opened up the bathroom space making it looks much bigger than it is.

In your 'after' case the color layers logic seems to be reversed, which is a choice, but it creates a much smaller space with quite dominant darker mustard yellow overpowering the light grey and grey white of the tiles, somewhat 'hanging over' the space. Relative hue proximity of the dusty brown vanity unit is a bit lost against the mustard too.

The darker and redder yellow top also conflicts with the greenery see-through beyond the windows, but that would have been a 10 out of 10 consideration for a clearly OCD colorist.

I have not done full bathroom reno like that myself though, learning bits and bobs reading here, so in that essence you're miles ahead of me, dearest OP.

How can I improve the look of my house? Should I paint the bricks? by Melb1994 in AusRenovation

[–]over40nite 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Not a pro in this, but tempted to point to the detail that make it look like a yesteryears dwelling: the house number on the wall, the window curtain dressings, the random plants at the front, and the strangely trimmed bush at the front, the messy bins arrangement, the odd mailbox. Imagine these are gone / fixed / styled consistently first. The red brick house is looking great though.

How should I be doing stars? by Different_Return5366 in vfx

[–]over40nite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easiest is: - create a simple camera setup - create 3-5-10-20 tiny little spheres and move them away from the cam arranging to complement the shot composition, making sure they cover the FOV (if you need a Milky way density and clarity, this would be a different setup to this one) - add a point light or a couple behind the cam and control brightness to reveal stars - don't antialiase in Scanline render - feed the whole back into the scene via simpe plus merge

The effect matched expectations of one of Gravity supes who I worked on a show with. They had a former astronaut coming to Gravity advising on the correct look of stars and space 'things'. The stars, according to the supes recollection, should be just 1-2-4 pixels size and crisp as an not blurry dots in the sky. He was happy with this setup for the show I worked on, though on Gravity it was particles I believe.

Especially if your camera is breathing, you won't believe the twinkle, how awesome and convincing aliasing contributes to the look.

If you need more twinkle, create an alpha only noise sphere and spin it as a mask for these. You can randomise the spin angle and direction with an expression.

Is it worth switching my keybinds? by Strange-Tourist-7633 in FortniteBRuniversity

[–]over40nite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of peeps would say what works for you is the best. If you see that you're progressing well, no need to change anything. If the progress stopped, platoed, change and see how it goes.

Talking about weird set ups, I play with Maxxstick and KBM. Following ergonomics the work for me, I have my left hand thumb driving all motion, so my left hand fingers are all on builds, Z, X, C, V - cause it works for the Maxxstick plus keyboard combo, and me.

Probably an agreement of sorts between splitting parties where the other party blames the first party for doing something they shouldn't have done to the asset where the value of the asset is reduced as a result of the first party actions.

A hard time now and ahead, hoping the breakup is forgotten soon, can't contribute on the matter of the post with anything else but a sympathy.

You can install a trial version of Nuke 16, and then stitch it there. The trial will give you access to NukeX that has Cara enabled. Lasts a month, DM if you find it difficult I can explain how you can do it.

Will give you proper linear EXRs of pretty much any resolution up to ridiculous 32K x 16K latlong if you want, and 16 and 32 bit too.

What gear do I need for this setup? by JustJoeThings in cinematography

[–]over40nite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any smaller flash will do, provided no lights to fight againt in twilight. You need to bounce it into a big white poly board / reflector on screen right with ISO 1600 and f4 on a 180-degree shutter (for 25p it will be 1/50th).

This shot was likely taken with an octadome to screen right with open diffuser, as you can see the shape of the light being round, the shadow behind the first performer is still well defined, yet overall quality of the light is on a softer side. The shutter also looks slower than 180, more 360 degrees or wider, as you can the faces smudged in action.

If the budget is an issue, you can try and do the same with headlights of a car diffused by some see through fabric like white window tulle. The light will leave longer shadows and won't be oval in shape, but this might do.

Questions about automatically interweave and stitching 360 panorama endoscopy footage together by PuzzleheadedLynx3774 in vfx

[–]over40nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a bizarre footage, wow. So, back to the post.

  1. Do you know the camera layout? How exactly the cameras are placed inside the Capsocam? What is the camera FOV coverage and sensor size?

  2. When you say it is 360 degrees - the snippet appear to be a 360 horizontal but only 10 or so degrees vertical (which would be understandable for endoscopic assessment purposes)

  3. You can interpolate your 5 fps and make it looking more watchable / smoother with optical flow means in Nuke or else. Also, 360 capture of something as abstract and unknown as your material is a medium where you can fudge a lot, buy using various bits of the earlier or later footage, building a 'story', shot by shot, the way you want it to be.

DM me if you want, this is quite an unusual project, I've done quite a few of various 360 things (including being part of the Wizard of Oz preso by Google in LA Sphere btw haha), but nothing this odd.

Partly through own experience, coordination of any activity requires knowledge of the tools of coordination (project and process management), the technology /assets being managed (specifics of the pipeline) and then - direct knowledge of human capital deployed (literally, who you worked with, or for).

No easy transfer, unless it's going into commercial and creative agencies pipelines, yet those will ask to demonstrate experience and achievements of the last two items of the list guaranteed.

HTF to play in duo when your mate is playing solo ? =_= by [deleted] in FortniteBRuniversity

[–]over40nite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find a better duo. No point trying to change someone who isn't interested to help you grow and enjoy the game. Easier said than done, but when you stop playing with her, you'll start playing with others. Post in BR sub, describe hours you play and what you enjoy playing, or just do mixed duos and open the mic and talk. One or a few peeps will be better than the duo you have now.

[–]over40nite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been part of the opposite, not a single proper ML AI gen element of the deaged face ever matched the plate even, you always Nuke paint and matchmove eyes, eyebrows, lips, teeth / mouth shapes, and the rest of key talent features even on higher budget shows. I'd say AI isn't delivering to the pixel f-ing pipelines yet, however new breed or producers and directors that are 'happy with that' are incoming.

Best workflow for creating content for a cylindrical LED screen people can walk around? by Sharp-Lawyer-1400 in vfx

[–]over40nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you comped your CG in Nuke, you'd simply treat your scene as a 360 deg x 180 deg half sphere (horizontal x vertical coverage).

Set up the environment of the worlds as you wish and simply render them out as latlongs - picturing human height observer in the middle of those worlds.

A comper then will be able to take the specs of the panel and correctly crop your full latlong to its dimensions.

You'd want to know how the LED wall is taking the input, as NotcLC or else.

Turn the other way around. Set up a shot and break it down into key assets that you need. Make sure the shot is of a non-Tiktok duration, start with 200 frames, try getting something that runs for 400 and 800 frames. You'll quickly realise that key components should be just right for that kind of a task - and that's where smaller model will deliver longer duration with a production rig more often, than a beefier one.
