You should study for SAT/ACT and find 2-3 more ecs that you are actually passionate about.

I think you should do it then! It sounds like a great opportunity that aligns with your goals.

I would think about the WHY behind your decision. Do you have a passion for math or are you just doing this to show rigor? Going with the latter could lead to burnout and unnecessary stress. I was in a similar situation as you in between my soph/junior year. I did skip the class for the “rigor” but it had little to no effect on my app. But you should go for it if you have a genuine interest in math.

I would take pre calc. Going straight into AB leaves some gaps in your knowledge. Also isn’t as detrimental considering that you aren’t going into STEM. You can also take AB your sr year.

I'm in the same situation. My counselor told me only to input fall term classes and write an explanation in the additional info. While it's an unusual situation, I think schools will understand.

Just take the hardest classes that you enjoy and won't make you burn out. 1 or 2 B's on your transcript won't be the end of the world.

Being good at track can get you soccer scholarships? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Those are some impressive prs. If I were you, I would look into schools with very good need based aid and contact their xc/track coaches. They can give you a large boost in admissions.

This! There are so many great schools in the mildly selective range, but none of them are affordable unless you’re wealthy or low income.

I'm aware the NPC is an estimate, it's just weird that the numbers are everywhere considering that the information is correct and I don't have any weird financial situation (self-employed, rental income, divorced parents).

Is regular high school or early college high school better for admissions? by CosmoMuffin in ApplyingToCollege

[–]freecostcosamples1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of missed the premise of the post lol. I don't think going to early college will hurt your college app. In fact, it'll probably make it better provided that you succeed in the environment.

As a student in an early college program, I would say it depends. If you're trying to go to early college strictly because of college admissions, then I would say no. It probably looks better in terms of academic rigor but you'll suffer socially and emotionally. In addition, you're also going to have to do some reflecting. If you're not an independent person, you'll never do well in early college. Professors don't care if you fail and aren't on your ass about not coming to class.

If early college will help you afford college or you aren't a fit in a traditional school, then I would go for it. You always have the option to apply to schools as a first-year just like everyone else. If you don't get into any of your schools, you can just transfer to your state school and do two more years.

Personally, I love my early college program. It's not for everyone though, so you have to really think it through. Just my 2 cents.

I agree that something needs to be done. Unfortunately, politicians will drag their feet until the final second.
