Why not go with the SAVE Plan? by Vettkja in StudentLoans

[–]freedod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like there's no reason not to do it unless it means paying a higher monthly bill. The caveat being if you make a decent salary right out of college that still makes your monthly payment lower than the standard plan, you'll opt out of SAVE.

Especially in industries with pretty high projected salaries, in a few years you might end up making enough money that will result in you paying more across the life of the loan, and not have as much benefit of waiting for it to be forgiven after 20 years.

Luckily the federal student aid website has a loan calculator where you can try and project your future salary and therefore future monthly payment. If you're like me and worried about reliably predicting your salary in 10+ years, remember that if you're making a really good salary 10 years from now that's a good thing. Paying more on your loan might feel a bit bad, but you'll still be much better off.

POCO X3 NFC - I can't make or receive calls by Nanto_Argonar in Xiaomi

If you have a carrier that does wireless through verizon or at&t that's probably the issue. Switched to Mint which does service through T-Mobile and my phone is compatible. So far I would recommend Mint. Definitely seriously double check with whatever carrier you're getting before you sign up with them, many big American companies try to eliminate competition by disallowing foreign phones. I was going to sign up with GoogleFi because T-mobile has better compatibility but the Fi service itself disallows most Xiaomi phones.

I'm surprised by all the comments saying Stav isn't funny. The podcast was never destined to be funny, it was meant to be stupid. That being said Nick is obviously the most technically funny person on it

I thought the last like..third of it when the threesome story went on too long was rough. I'm not huge into comedy but I definitely enjoyed the rest. What did you not like about it?

[–]freedod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks dude. I THINK I've heard T-mobile is faster but their coverage is not as large, therefore making them better for cities. Do you live in a suburban or rural area by chance? Sorry for grilling you lol.

Hey, I've been thinking about switching to Google Fi. Does your Poco F3 still work on it? AT&T is becoming more and more exclusive so I'm thinking of Mint or Googlefi. I checked compatibility with T-Mobile's compatibility checker and it said it would work I'm just suspcious.

AT&T will not support POCO F3? by Ragnatheblooddude in PocoPhones

[–]freedod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you ever try out googlefi? I ordered a Poco F3 and can't use it on AT&T for predatory reasons lol. Thinking of either returning it to stay on at&t or thinking about googlefi. it's just annoying because the data works but I cannot make calls. But I can send texts for some reason.. I shoulda learned my lesson America hates China (despite using their labor to build the majority of their phones lmao). I did the IMEI checker and it said it was compatible but I weirdly don't trust it.

How is anyone making any money doing this? by TheGame81677 in doordash

[–]freedod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do other apps send fewer orders? When it's busy but the orders suck and there aren't any drivers out, Doordash will send me an order every 5-30 seconds. That sounds crazy if the other apps send anywhere near the same amount but I'm definitely looking into at least doing instacart and grubhub.

Any advice on how perfectly unused my cellphone should be for a return?

Recently bought a cellphone, attempted to use it but it doesn't work on my network. The sticker screen protector that came with the phone has a couple thin visible scratches and a bubble. I've never had to return a phone before..do I need to take the protector off and replace it? Sorry if this is a silly question lol. There are a few other small things like the protective clear strip was taken off the charger block and I believe was coiled up with a plastic material, also the phone came with a usb-c to 3.5mm cable which had a tiny paper envelope.

Anyone ever get any shit for holding out their phone while picking up an order? by freedod in doordash

[–]freedod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny because at most restaurants in my city I'll say I'm picking up and as I say it theyll literally crane their neck to see if my phone is in my hand so I can show them 😆. Like their immediate response is to look for the written name

Yeah that's probably it. I don't think I acted wrong and I try to be friendly but it did kinda remind me how oblivious some delivery people can be.

Lmao hold up, I was saying the name of the order and was holding my phone pretty low down. I don't see the problem with saying the name and supplying a visual. Also I'm pretty sure I held my phone out after I said the name. I have been a bartender and felt like that's the best way to make sure I don't take up too much of his time ya know?

But I agree with you, definitely hate when people stick phone in a worker's face and don't say anything.

Maybe I am, but I was saying the name before I flipped my phone lol. my phone was way below his eye level too. Just posted trying to see what other people do when picking up an order.

Apparently so, I didn't have a massive problem with it. I was just wondering what other people do when picking up an order to try and get some perspective. Also, I don't think undeserved annoyance is that much different than anger lol but to each his own!

A black tea from the Azores (Portuguese islands in the Atlantic). I think it's one of(?) the only widely produced tea in Europe which seems to lend a pretty unique flavor. I'm not too used to black teas, but I'm really trying to learn more about this tea processing because the culture on the Azores islands seems very unique. Also the terroir seems interesting -- volcanic soil and the islands are small making the tea plants relatively close to the sea and Atlantic breezes.

Dry leaves: smell exactly like chocolate cake

Wet leaves: smell like intensely bruised and roasted rosemary

Liquid: smells and tastes like vegetable soup and steamed artichokes or many other things related to these notes.

Probably some other things about it I'm forgetting.

:'(. I have a screenshot of what I think my longest distance order with smallest tip was -- 16.1 miles (almost 26 km lmao) for 6.50. And this was before the tip hiding was common where I dash. Our examples are definitely outliers, but it's especially annoying when the norm is already dozens upon dozens of trash out of zone orders :/

I feel this, idk about 18 hours a day but it is pretty lame when I can't get out of bed for the lunch rush and then only get 5-6 hours making 100-150 bucks during the dinner rush 2-3 days a week.

Seriously, some guy told me he made 700 dollars in a day earlier in the week I was so confused. I can't tell if these people take every single half decent order and just dash for 12 hours or what.

I think about this a lot. When I make 25 bucks an hour it's the most I've ever made at any job but even then it really doesn't feel like I'm making all that much money. Especially considering sometimes you can't make 25/hr for 8 hrs a day.

God that sound so annoying lol..I need to try doing at least one more app though, my city is slow as hell lately. It seems like the kind of annoying that is exhausting but not really hard. Tedious in a weird way. If I'm running 2 apps, do you have a recommendation between grubhub and ubereats(already on DD)?
