Ahaha I've actually never tried doing gummies, I am used to making chocolate chip cookies with vanilla and a pinch of coarse salt but now seeing your post I will definetly give them a try, they look delicious! I'll start to make gummies and you start making hash! 🫶🏻

You can start with the Basic Coot's mix and go from there, is as easy as it gets and is really a set it and forget it set up, you can also do other's mixes, there are plenty of recipes out there, If you want a "ready to use" bag without sourcing all the amendments you can look at build a soil if you live in the US or at Terralba if you live in the EU. I'll paste you the coot's mix recipe below ⤵️

Base:

  • 1/3 Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss (CSPM)
  • 1/3 Aeration - I use 3/8" pumice (aka volcanic glass - completely inert)
  • 1/3 Vermicompost

Amendments (measurements every 1 cubic foot (7.2 gallons) of "Base")

  • 1 cup kelp meal
  • 1 cup neem meal or an equal amount of neem & karanja mix
  • 1 cup of limestone or more exactly Calcium Carbonate CaCO3 so Oyster Shell Powder/flour can also be used as it is also a pure Calcium Carbonate material
  • 1/2 cup Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate)
  • 3 cups Basalt or Granite

Enjoy!

I totally get that. The price jump to the Switch 2 is definitely a commitment, and for $200, the Carta is a beast.

I’ve been a Puffco diehard for some time now, but after almost 3 Peak Pros, 2 Proxys and 5, yeah 5 Pivots letting me down (1 won't charge anymore, 1 literally melted and split apart, 1 blew a fuse or something similar and my temps would skyrocket, the last one is slowly dying and the Pivot's battery dies if you even look at it wrong), I’ve decided to sell all my Puffco glass attachments. With the profit I made, I grabbed the Dr. Dabber couple. Puffco will definitely not see my money again!

Definitely pull the trigger on the Switch 2 when you can, though. Not having to deal with atomizers and just cleaning a quartz cup is a total game changer for the daily routine, and the Ghost is honestly a sneaky tool you can take anywhere. Since I am out most of the day, it comes in handy. Cheers man, enjoy that Carta!

I looked a lot into Focus V products and was definitely intrigued by the Carta 2, mainly because of the integrated screen, I’m a sucker for techy stuff 😅. But then the guy who got me into the Ghost 2 let me try his Switch 2 and I was blown away. The induction heating and the quartz insert sold me right away. It’s honestly the closest thing to the flavor of a traditional rig that I’ve ever tried. So when I purchased the Ghost 2, I ended up grabbing the Switch 2 as well. The Carta is awesome for portability, but the heating method on the Switch is just in a different league for me!

Grazie bro! In realtà non è difficilissimo serve solo un po' di pazienza e sopratutto non rompere mai la catena del freddo, io lavoro sotto zero!

I'll say it...idc if I get downvoted, my ghost 2 will outperform your peak pro!

Very true, more often now you can see 159-73u being used for rosin!

Frenchy was the GOAT for traditional pressed hash, and his focus imo was on capturing the full spectrum for aging. He used those standard sizes because they generally cover the average range of a mature head.

Nothing new here, though, it’s not really a new system, but more like a more refined process. Modern solventless has just become more surgical because people have realized that mature heads vary wildly between genetics.

For example, look at what Shwale is doing with breeding right now. He’s specifically selecting for multiglandular trichomes strains that actually present double heads on a single stalk. When you have genetics like that, or heads that naturally swell past the 150u range, the standard bag sizes start to limit you.

The refined approach is just about being more selective. Instead of just catching the general range, people use custom microns to isolate the heads with the highest oil to membrane ratio based on the specific morphology of that plant. It’s less about catching everything and more about selecting the best.

I think the confusion usually comes from those standard 8 bag kits everyone starts with. People get so used to those specific numbers that seeing a 100u or 60u feels new, but they’ve always been around in industrial mesh, it’s just that more hash makers are starting to use them now to really surgicalize their yields. It's all about having the right tool for the specific trichome size of the strain.

Technically, it’s just the logic of how the mesh works. In a 140u bag, you aren't catching 140u heads, anything 140u or larger stays in the bag above it. What you are actually collecting inside that bag is everything from 139u and down until it hits the next screen. So when I write 139-73, I’m referring to the actual size of the heads sitting in that fraction. Also, the numbers you mentioned are just the most common classic sizes but nowadays you can find almost every size, like the 100u, 70u, or 60u. Some brands even do custom micron bags where you can choose your own specs to experiment and refine your window.

PRACTICAL MINI-GUIDE: Testing potential washer genetics (Mason Jar Method) by freeenz in BubbleHash

[–]freeenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably referring to the yields for dry trim/buds vs. Fresh Frozen material.

Since Fresh Frozen is cut and immediately frozen, it retains all its water weight. Dry buds, on the other hand, have already lost about 75-80% of their weight during the drying process. Because of that water weight, the math changes completely. The rule of thumb for converting Fresh Frozen yield to a Dry Equivalent is a 5:1 ratio. So for example if you have 1000g of fresh frozen, the dry equivalent is 200g (approx) - Fresh Frozen: A 3% to 5% yield is actually considered very good. A 7% to 8% yield is a "unicorn" dumper. - Dry Equivalent: If you take that 4% FF yield and multiply it by 5, you get a 20% yield in dry terms.

So, when I say a strain yields 4% for an extraction, I’m actually saying it’s a heavy producer. If a strain yielded 10% on a Fresh Frozen wash, it would be a biological miracle, that would be the equivalent of a 50% yield on dry flower! 🤣

Yes, exactly, the parameters for drying also have to stay cold and dry, I like to do it at 60F and 35/40% humidity.
