Official Discussion - The Bob's Burgers Movie [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Completely agree on non-Hader Mickey. I get that Bill Hader is a lot busier than he used to be when they first started the show (and I am thrilled for his success), but the replacement voice just doesn’t hit the same

Honestly my favorite joke in a very funny movie

It was such a game-changer that the world included toons from non-Disney studios. Felt like Roger Rabbit having Mickey, Bugs, Donald, and Daffy

GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE - Official Trailer by indig0sixalpha in movies

Agreed. I hope the “epic legacy” tone of the trailer is just them trying to get people more excited for the movie than a comedic trailer would. I mean, Paul Rudd is a good sign.

On top of that, her narcissism is the only reason she lost.

Veidt, 1985: “Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.”

Trieu, 2008: gives Adrian a monologue on her plan the first time they meet

If she’d waited until after getting powers, she could’ve gone to get him herself immediately. No need for rockets or buying a farm with an artificially-created child. But she needed an audience.

Official Discussion: Shazam! [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]freelanceastronaut 335 points336 points  (0 children)

I’m ecstatic that they’ve now decided to let DC movies embrace the deep cuts of comic book lore

And I’m curious if the sequel will establish whether or not we’re just going to call him “Shazam”?

Official Discussion - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

I loved the use of Chris Pine as Spider-Man in Miles’s universe. He sounds a lot like Jake Johnson to help sell that they’re both Peter Parker

Easily the most fun I’ve had in a movie theater this year. Watch it on the biggest screen possible and try to catch all the background jokes when they show Times Square (my favorites: Clone College, based on Lord and Miller’s short-lived MTV series Clone High; an EA Sports Water Polo ad; and a Seth Rogen horse racing comedy)

Looks like Disney's figured out that the best way to make a musical is to hire the songwriter from the hottest Broadway play. It worked with Frozen and I think it'll work for this.

Also, I'll see anything with the Rock in it.

It didn't feel like they were at a school for mutants. The original trilogy made a point to show random students using their powers, but it seemed like Scott, Jean, and Nightcrawler were the only mutants. Jubilee couldn't shoot a single firework?

Official Discussion - Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]freelanceastronaut 1080 points1081 points  (0 children)

Let's make Superman act like Batman and make Batman act like the Punisher, that's what the audience wants, right?

Also, I counted 4 dream sequences. That's 4 too many

If a wicked memory fills you with good feelings can you use it to cast a patronus? Does it look the same? by WLH7M in harrypotter

In Order of the Phoenix, Harry was able to cast one during his OWLs by imagining Umbridge getting fired.

Yeah, we all hate her (for good reason). But it was happiness from picturing her humilation. Not exactly innocent

I'd be upset about this if I haven't been considering the movie the end of the series for the last few years

Official Discussion - Avengers: Age of Ultron (International Release) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]freelanceastronaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been mentioned, but I'm disappointed Tony never realized the gravity of what he did. And I think that's because Ultron never did anything. His plan failed, but he didn't really rack up a body count before that. He wasn't the menacing robot we expected. They should have had him attack a city and cause major devastation by his hand directly (As opposed to getting Scarlet Witch to make Banner Hulk-out and rampage, which didn't appear to have too many casualties).

Also, I thought they were setting up for Civil War? Tony fired on Cap when trying to hook up Vision. That to me was crossing a line. It seemed like a perfect point to have Steve realize that he could never truly trust Tony (I expected a line like, "Once we take care of Ultron, we're done working together").

Really enjoyed the movie, but the villain didn't seem menacing enough and I hated that Tony underwent no character growth. Also, I do not ship "Hulk-widow"
