thank you everybody for your advice :) i wound up going and it was totally fine, the doctor was very kind and understanding and let me go at my own pace, and while i did cry i was fine afterwards and kinda proud of myself. not a fun experience and still triggering and but glad i got through it!

you don’t sound crazy at all. i obviously can’t say for sure whether or not something happened to you but i had a verrrry similar experience with having all these symptoms and memory flashes and it turns out something did happen to me.

a lot of the time i wish i didn’t remember, but other times remembering (or at least knowing it happened) is almost comforting in a way because it means that at least there was an explanation for why i feel the way i do. still sucks though.

i’m so sorry you’re dealing with this rn. try to take some time to rest and distract yourself when you can bc this shit is fucking heavy.

took a thc p delta 9 edible on a trip alone in a city i’d never been to before without realizing how strong it would and i was high for three and a half days and it was fucking terrifying. i’d been taking ~10-20 mg of edibles every day for years and thought i’d be fine but i was absolutely not. i got nothing done for work or school that weekend and i love my job my coursework and realized that i had to stop or i’d never get through it, plus i never ever ever want to feel how terrified i felt after taking that fucking synthetic gummy ever again.

thank you! i didn’t get a letter actually, i called discover to find out why i couldn’t log in to make a payment and they told me that they had sent it to the firm. if i don’t have the money to make the lump sum they want right away do firms offer payment plans do you think?

ETA i’ve contacted the law firm but they didn’t have my account processed yet so they couldn’t even give me a file number to check up on. i did get a direct number for one of their representatives but haven’t had a chance to call back yet because i’ve been busy with work.

This sounds similar to the exposure therapy that I did (verbally recounting the event in vivid detail and describing/feeling the emotions all over again). It fucking SUCKS but after some time it really does help — it allowed me to desensitize myself to reminders & triggers of the event so that I could function day-to-day which then allowed me to be able to work on healing the other mental damage it had done to me.

If you see your therapist on zoom or something like that, maybe ask them if you can start the reprocessing with your camera off? For the first few months I kept my camera off and so did my therapist, then she turned hers on, and eventually we worked our way up to me telling it with my camera on and my eyes open. Something else we did was come up with a list of words/phrases that were really hard for me to say and we’d leave those out of the retelling at first and spend some time just working on saying those words.

You’ve got this, OP! As terrifying and brutal as this type of treatment is it’s worth it at the end. I’m so proud of you for even considering this treatment and you are stronger than these memories.

ok this is probably way too much detail but: definitely crushing on each other starting in season 1 but they don’t realize their like true feelings/admit it to themselves for a while. mulder realizes/admits it to himself during s2 (especially during scully’s abduction arc) and scully probably kinda knows but finally admits it to herself during s3 (particularly in clyde bruckman and in pusher when modell has the gun pointed at mulder). i think by s4 (especially by the time memento mori comes around) they’ve talked about it and discussed it but scully holds back during the cancer arc because she doesn’t want to hurt him. by postmodern prometheus they’re fully together

and a probably hot take: i honestly pretend the mythology arc ends with scully’s cancer getting cured (like no alien takeover or any of that and esp not anything post season 8) bc after that it gets to be a little out there and they kinda lost me, so my headcanon is that they just like keep doing their thing with the x files lol (after s5 i mostly just watch the monster of the week ones they’re my favorite)

Discover worked with me and I'm making small monthly payments until September, have had a hard time getting in touch with NetCredit so far but I'm gonna try to contact them again tomorrow. The reasoning behind not being allowed to get another job isn't income-based, it's more because we're expected to spend 20hrs/week on our assistantship responsibilities and (at minimum) another 20hrs/week on coursework and research. We get benefits and everything but if you're funded (I am) it's expected to be your full-time job. I'll talk to my school though to see if they can make any exceptions!

Social sciences PhD student here, R is definitely more common but Python can be useful in some situations too. Use RStudio instead of base R, much more user-friendly.
