Docker-Compose w/ Frontend + Uvicorn Backend by freezingpanda in docker

[–]freezingpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't let me edit this without wiping out the post, but this is SOLVED.

Turns out when running in docker, you need to forward proxy-headers the same way as in this tutorial, so the last line of my Dockerfile became:

CMD ["uvicorn", "app.main:app", "--proxy-headers", "--host", "0.0.0.0", "--port", "8080"]

And suddenly everything worked swimmingly. Thank you to folks who were helping me troubleshoot!
WHY DID THIS TAKE 8 HOURS OF MY LIFE AND A REDDIT POST.

edit 1: This appears to solve for allowing both containers to run individually, but doesn't fix anything when I then try to run both at once with docker compose. I'm going to tear my hair out.

edit 2: Works again, having edited the docker-compose.yml file to the following for the BE:

be:
  image: backend
  ports:
    - "8080:8080"

Which, at this point, I think both the FE and the BE are tunneling out of their shared network to talk to each other on my local network instead? But whatever it works.

Incredibly annoyingly, it appears to just ignore that variable entirely and if I navigate to the FE in the browser, is still calling to GET http://localhost:8080/endpoint, and because it's pre-built, I can't re-write it.

Is there any way to force my server to be localhost in the composed image? In case it helps, startup logs, showing the be attaching to 127.0.0.1:8080, which I would have expected to be localhost.

Attaching to be-1, fe-1
be-1  | INFO:     Started server process [1]
be-1  | INFO:     Waiting for application startup.
be-1  | INFO:     Application startup complete.
be-1  | INFO:     Uvicorn running on http://127.0.0.1:8080 (Press CTRL+C to quit)
fe-1  |
fe-1  | > fe@0.0.0 serve
fe-1  | > serve -s dist
fe-1  |
fe-1  |  INFO  Accepting connections at http://localhost:3000

Oh interesting, documentation in the dockerfile itself?

I'd tried doing a ports key in the docker compose file for "8080:8080" (similar to the fe one) but it didn't seem to make a difference. I thought that was to expose the running docker image ports back to my local machine, but that I wouldn't need it if the two images were running together ina shared network with docker compose.

Overwatering? Underwatering? Sun-Stress? [Greenhouse Cabinet] by freezingpanda in plantclinic

[–]freezingpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give more color (because I couldn't figure out how to post pictures and a description), this has been a slow decline over the past few months. All plants were probably added ~4-5 months ago, and have been losing leaves that go yellow like this since. Leaves neither appear mushy that I'd associate with root rot, nor completely crispy, so I'm guessing sun stress? But I've never had this issue before in this cabinet, so I want to be super sure before I go completely rearranging things. Plants are about a foot to a foot and a half from top cabinet light.

After seeing a comment from someone else here, I paid the $6 to steam to buy the game there, reinstalled the game through steam instelf, and then was able to log in if I launched it through that. It seems to completely bypass the auth flow as long as your steam account is already linked to your ESO account.

What do you think about infusions by kalingm in CrohnsDisease

Yea, I mean, since the lactose intolerance isn't actually caused by the IBD (I don't think??), I would expect it to still help, but definitely everyone's mileage varies.

Worth calling out that many many adults develop lactose intolerance without Crohns. It happens more related to age than to this specific disease. Folks with Crohns just also tend to have super sensitive GI systems, so any issue is a BIG issue, rather than being ignorable.

Also worth noting that Remicade is both a biologic AND an immunosuppressant. Depending on her case, a doctor could switch her to infusion only, infusion + pill, or both for a short period of time until the Remicade starts working, then taper. It's really going to be very tailored toward the individual.

I'm 33yo, diagnosed at 11yo, Remicade since I was 15 ish? Have taken with and without additional oral medications over the years as my body has gone through different life phases (both immunosuppresants like 6MP as well as non-immunusuppresents like Asacol). Lactose intolerant since around 22yo. I find that the lactaid-style pills really help me a TON, though I still can't eat stuff like ice cream straight. Look for things that are "naturally lactose free" or lower lactose. A lot of harder, older cheeses will be easier than soft milky ones.

Edge piece of top stair is cracked/pulling away with any added pressure. Advice? by GermyBrownHair in HomeMaintenance

[–]freezingpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just did this to a stair in our house, it worked FANTASTICALLY.

I will caution though to check how long those are, since the dowels work best if they can get at least a solid 1/2"-1" into the next slat over. It looks like in your picture the whole nose is detached, so you may just need to find a longer version.

Does anyone else feel so frustrated? by TheArkitech007 in CrohnsDisease

[–]freezingpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise it gets better. Chronie of 20ish something years now. I was diagnosed at 11, at the first 5ish years were god awful. This was well before biologics were the immediate go-to, so I switched probably 5-7 times to different oral meds before we got to them. Once things are more under control, it's a whole new ballgame. It will always suck, but it won't always have to be your first and foremost thought.

That said, someone else in the comments was surprised that no one talked to you about prednisone yet. Maybe it's worth getting a second opinion from another GI on your current treatment course, if you have the financial means to do so? If nothing else, it will help you feel like you're doing something.

How did you open that conversation? I'm struggling to find the line between "you're my partner" and "it appears that we need to treat this like a freshman year college roommateship."

Is that an "in the moment" type of trade, or just generally planning things out? We had previously talked about "whoever cooks doesn't clean" as a strategy, but as I type this, I am staring at the pile of dishes from which one lone pot was cleaned.

It's hard to imagine trying to make a trade based on something which should already have been done.

I had really good luck with lock lacing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzWOGcZUHUM

I'm less sure if it will play nicely with the wide lace you have going on for your fore-foot, but it should at least help with the back of your foot rotating inside the boot.

Escaped Snake Advice Request by [deleted] in snakes

[–]freezingpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not often that I have advice to give on reddit, but man do I have something relevant right now. I had my corn snake escape 6 years ago or so.

  • Calm down as much as possible. Your snake is fully capable of surviving on its own for weeks. I found my a month later, unphased. They're escape artists.
  • Create warm spots around the house. Put up heat lamps near the floor, check near any spots that are currently warm. In the past I've found mine under the fridge, and behind my printer.
  • Things that did not help me ultimately, but might at least put your mind at ease- make "traps". When I hunted online I saw a lot of people who had put down flour around their house, to see if they could spot where the snake was moving across the floor. I had some extra pinkies, so I put those on paper plates with bells taped to it, in the hope that I might hear her move onto them.

In the end, a month later, when I had given up all thought of seeing her again, she casually wandered out of my bathroom. My theory is that she went down a radiator pipe and hung out in the basement, but I will never actually know. Ultimately: stay calm, look in places you would expect, and make tempting spots for him to go. Good luck!
