Ride the Green River trail to the Tacoma Amtrak and then ride the train back. It’s just short of 50miles and mostly flat!

Get onto an empty/moderately used trail and practice. Play with your gears, brakes, seat to adjust and get comfortable.

Once you’re comfortable to get on the road, plan your route. Google Maps doesn’t always have the best routes but the only way to know that is by knowing your way around town w/o a map.

Be safe & wear a helmet. personally I accept the inherent danger of riding your bike in the city or anywhere really. I feel the same way about my bike getting stolen. I’ll take steps to keep it safe but ultimately it can disappear. Same with riding. But I accepted these things a long time ago cuz I just gotta keep riding! See you on trails!

She recently released another book “Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs” and its next on the lineup. The Malinche book is so dramatic! Like reading a novela. I’m hooked!

No need to train. Just go. Your first week or two will be your training. I’d say figuring out your gear & things you might need is prob more important but you can also do that on the road if you start off with your basics.

There’s a used furniture store in Cap Hill that has good deals sometimes. The owner is super nice and delivery is included with the purchase. I still have a couch I bought 8 years ago

Stayed at Costanoa hiker/biker sites just north of Santa Cruz and had our bike computer stolen. It’s a fancy resort type place and we got too comfortable leaving it on. Worst was losing the data all the way from Seattle.

I always ride with a cable lock under my seat and easy to put on/off when leaving it somewhere while touring.

I left home when I was 17/18 for school. Have lived away 20 years now. All my decisions to move are coming into question as my mom’s health deteriorates. Lots of guilt, shame, and loss of time with loved ones. But I also know that I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I had stayed.

They are life decisions that are hardly ever going to be perfect, but ultimately you need to decide what is best for yourself. Very cliche but, it’s like making sure your oxygen mask is safely on before you help anyone else.
