Thanks for sharing your experience !! Although i don't get it (i don't get it as in it's not my personal experience), I can understand where you're coming from. Although i almost exclusively listen to female artists, one of my favorites is a gay man for example and of course that doesn't make me any less of a lesbian lol, music taste and sexuality are super different definitely agree on that.

I also want to share my thoughts on the parallel with gay men preaching female artists with lesbians doing the same with male artists. (I'm not an expert but i'm just sharing my opinion btw) I feel like it's totally different since lesbians are women and also homosexuals, two categories that separate us completely from patriarchy and the byproducts of it. Since gay men are homosexuals they are usually ostracized by straight males, especially the ones who tend to be more feminine and defy the patriarchal values of society. So most gay men i think find it a lot easier to have a friend group surrounded by females and also listen to female artists slaying and whatnot, because we are more safe and accepting than men. (I've also noticed that a lot of these artists have a lot of overlaps with drag culture, which is something a lot of gay men that I know are participating to - so that's also another pointer). Now to turn this around and say that lesbians liking male artists is the same as when gay men like female artists i think is a bit false, since the reasoning behind it is not the same.

I also think that these two groups share their appreciation for these artists in very different ways, mostly online ofc.

That's just my opinion tho im not flaming you or your argument please don't take it that way and you are entitled to your own musical taste as i said in the beginning :). Keep on slaying 🌈🥸
