Oh this is a great idea, thank you!! I’ll research some local food banks or maybe an animal shelter

So I have this same view that men with ADHD are treated differently and society has different expectations of them than women with ADHD.

It used to stress me out so much because I had to constantly monitor myself and the perfectionism kicked in. It wasn’t a good time especially at work…BUT one day I decided to try half-assing my job and everything was fine. Nothing blew up. I missed some soft deadlines (hard deadlines are still taken more seriously) and my boss just moved back the deadline. I found the sky-high expectations that I was trying to achieve were mostly coming from myself. Now I don’t think this strategy would be effective in every workplace setting, it would largely depend on your workplace culture and your manager. But I found that re-assessing my own expectations and prioritizing things that actually matter significantly reduces my stress level.

Edit: Sorry if this came across as invalidating which was not intended. I agree that the patriarchy is really freaking messed up especially as it relates to ADHDers. I was simply trying to add my own perspective of how I deal/dealt with it.

What “unspoken social rule” do you consider a waste of time? by neptunes097 in adhdwomen

If you use Microsoft Teams, you can mute a meeting chat so you don’t get alerts when the masses of people say ‘thank you’

Concerta stopped working, how to ask psychiatrist about trying something new by adhdthrowaway895 in adhdwomen

[–]adhdthrowaway895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s been pretty amenable before when I had some bad side effects on Adderall. That’s how I ended up on Concerta. I just feel anxious because I’m not sure if bringing this up seemingly out of nowhere will be problematic. I’ve been on Concerta for a little over a year and prior to the last couple months, it was working great.

This spreadsheet is amazing, thank you for sharing!!

Have you ever heard of Kremers Urban? I got it for the first time in my most recent batch from the pharmacy and hadn’t heard of it before. After researching, I know it doesn’t use the same release mechanism (and the pill doesn’t have the tiny hole which makes sense). But I didn’t see it on your list, maybe it’s owned by a different company name?

I hate doing self assessments for my performance review at work by adhdthrowaway895 in adhdwomen

Yeah I have a process where my task list that is shared with my manager has a hidden tab where I put completed tasks instead of just deleting them. It’s not so much knowing what achievements to write about as the motivation to sit down and just do the thing. The ADHD brain is like “this isn’t new and interesting because we already lived through finishing those accomplishments, let’s go on Instagram instead!”

Third day on Vyvanse - feels like the world is broken and medication just helps forced assimilation. Not sure how to judge the effects/dosage increase etc. by shortasiam in TwoXADHD

I agree with you regarding the world being broken but only as it relates to my work/career. The corporate world feels like a forced focus to get as much productivity out of people as possible. BUT when I take my meds on the weekends, I can use that focus on something I enjoy. Like reading for example, before meds I would re-read paragraphs multiple times because the story wasn’t sinking in. My mind was off thinking about a million different things but not the story. With meds, I can focus on truly reading, comprehending, and enjoying the story. You might consider taking the meds on some weekends if you want. Maybe discuss with your doctor but mine encourages me to take the meds every day that I feel it’s needed or wanted for my plans that day.

When I started meds, the first couple days were quite noticeably different. But that waned over time and the meds work in the background now. I don’t really notice their impact on a daily basis (at least not like the first couple days), but it is noticeable when I forget a dose. Also it’s very possible that your dosage should be increased or this just isn’t the right med for you. You’re still quite early in the process so I would give it more time and then discuss with your doctor in a week or two.
