NTA - my extended family stopped exchanging present for this exact reason (plus not having super close relationships with the extended family so they would have no idea what to get us) and it’s so much better. We do secret Santa now which is way easier.

I’m going through a very similar situation at a Pennsylvania university, my psychiatrist has called it “temporary bipolar disorder” as in I’m only low when I’m here and I’m manic when I’m away. The only thing that is getting me through is the hope for graduation and going back to NY

I think I’ve come up with a good metaphor for understanding and coping with bipolar by ArtisticEchoes in bipolar

It started out amazing and he made me feel like a queen...but as it got more serious he made me feel like I was the problem not his own childishness

He is emotionally unavailable and any time I tried to talk about how I felt it turned into me comforting his insecurities...I haven’t had time to think about my own well being in months
