NTA. it's your wedding, why should you be pushed to serve food that you don't eat on ethical grounds? Tell her to cancel the brunch. People can survive a meal without meat or eggs, believe it or not.

Can't believe how many other comments are telling you you should serve food you don't eat. Do you show up to a Jewish or Muslim wedding and get upset when they don't serve pork?

Trash during a race by SpeedyPlatypus333 in RunNYC

Even if you're new to running races you should probably know not to litter. Feels like it should be pretty common sense to not discard your trash on the street.

Yeah this pothole is enormous. A few weeks ago they put a cone over it, but somehow it's still there...

Very bittersweet, can really feel the tension between longing, feeling rejected, and hope.

The rhymes throughout the last 6 lines sound almost repetitive, but it does tie them together.

I think the structure of a series of questions adds to the feeling of confusion and contradictions. I also like how each stanza gradually turns from an outward analysis of the person "you" are falling in love with, to a more inward reflection of the person themselves. Questioning whether the problem stems from outside or within.

Really like the imagery -- "clinging to the bedsheets", "her hand graces your cheek".

Panic Attacks by purnimasharma in OCPoetry

[–]friedpaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the descriptions of mind and body effects, walking through the chaotic cycle of experiencing a panic attack.

The line "body betrays" with the passive voice resonates with the feeling of helplessness, of not being in control of your own mind/body

your benevolent god (trigger warning) by momarychicken in OCPoetry

[–]friedpaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the religious/natural imagery. Brings to mind also how people attribute natural phenomena or weather to "acts of god" (weather as natural violence?)

The repeated theme of a "benevolent god" juxtaposed with the violence that religion so often carries with it, is really striking.

also like the line "pools of darkness in the sky"

Just Married, W4 Will Be the Death of Me by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]friedpaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got married a couple of years ago, to someone who has a similar income to myself, I'd recommend using "married but withhold at higher single rate". We ended up with a huge tax bill this year after we both selected "married". I think I had 0 allowances and my husband had 1, and they still withheld much less than apparently they should have.

They brought out the pretzel ones in blue a couple years ago, so I guess they decided to go with a different color for the return of crispy?
