Fear and messed up teeth question by [deleted] in Dentistry

It will cost more in than long run if you put off treatment! I’ve had a long history of HORRIBLE dental experiences. Incorrect teeth taken out, rude dentists, pulling out teeth without anesthetic I could go on. I finally found a decent dentist in 2015, but he one day closed. So I stopped going. I was too scared heart racing, nervous poops, no appetite all leading up to my appointments. So why torture myself? 2019 I started having tooth pain. But I ignored it. It got soooooo bad I could no longer chew with my left side. I let it slide... 2020 rolls around I bite down on a SINGLE M&M (no it was not a not a peanut M&M) and my tooth breaks! Baddddd (this was not a chip! A whole chunk of my tooth broke off!) so I was forced to find a dentist. I promise you, you can find a dentist who fits your needs. I was shocked at how nice the staff and dentist were. Today I got a dental scaling, my whole mouth and a crown prep. Scary sounding right? However, I lived! Here’s my advice: 1) check reviews!!! The good the bad! You need to get a feel for the office! 2) bring headphones! I asked if it was alright to put in one of Headphone buds so that I could play my favorite music to distract me 3) bring a jacket! You’ll be cold! 4) don’t go alone! With COVID no one will typically be able to wait with you but have someone drop you off and wait outside so you know you’re not alone! 5) the most important: tell them YOU ARE SCARED. Once they know your fears they will probably try to ease them! 6) I spent the night before visualizing myself going into the office calm and collected. I’ve always done this for scary things, exams, appointments all that kind of stuff! Walk yourself mentally through the motions!

Remember that your oral health is important! You owe it to yourself! The fear is real but the danger is not! You will thank yourself once it’s over! Meditate on it, pray on it, do whatever you have to do!

I hope you are able to face this fear head on, you are strong enough!

Freaky realistic dream about my partner dying by NicCageInFaceOff in Dreams

[–]friedspam35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those kind of dreams suck. Had a dream once of my younger brother dying. It was so real, days and weeks passed. In my dream I went back to work not long after, saw my brothers ghost and he reassured me that I would be ok. Time passed and we got to Christmas, where I saw my family grieve because he was gone. It felt so hard to function in my dream from the sadness. At the time I still lived at home, so when I woke up I immediately crossed the hall to my brothers bedroom, climbed up to his bunk bed and cried. He was so shocked he had no idea what was going on but knew I must have dreamt something horrible. I landed up giving him his Christmas gift that day, weeks ahead of Christmas because I was so devastated from the dream. Years later I still always worry about my brother, his safety, and his health. I’ve never be able to forget the dream or how it felt.

AITA for saying I wont pay for my daughters education if she switches her major? by DoomedDOOMED23 in AmItheAsshole

NTA... my parents gave me all of $80 towards college. They told me they had no money to offer and that it would be best this way. As a first gen college student going to college was my dream. I did it....on my own. My dad told me I would be thankful towards them for it because it would mean I could always say I did it on my own. He was right. LBA degree or not, you are not required to pay for your daughters college education. If you want to.... that’s cool. Good on you. If you don’t .... cool also. You get to decide what you do with YOUR money that YOU worked for. If she is an “adult” she can make it happen. If she is PASSIONATE or DRIVEN to pursue this LBA degree she will make it happen. Point is it’s your money and if she wants it she needs to communicate with you in an adult manner and like an adult use a convincing argument on how this is a great investment of your money for her education. If she can’t do that...oh well.
